2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
3 | | to learn of the death of Clayton "Clay" Lynn Cope of Alton, who |
4 | | passed away on December 11, 2021; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Clay Cope was born to Lynn E. Cope and Carla M. |
6 | | Cope in Alton on December 27, 1991; he served in the U.S. Navy |
7 | | for six years and toured on the USS Eisenhower, reaching the |
8 | | rank of AT3 (AW); and
|
9 | | WHEREAS, While in the Navy, Clay Cope received a series of |
10 | | awards and decorations, including the national defense service |
11 | | medal and the global war of terrorism expeditionary medal; and
|
12 | | WHEREAS, Clay Cope died unexpectedly following a tornado |
13 | | incident at his place of work; he was helping others find |
14 | | shelter shortly before his passing; he will be remembered as a |
15 | | beloved son, brother, and friend; and
|
16 | | WHEREAS, Clay Cope is survived by his parents and his two |
17 | | sisters, Rachel B. Cope and Alexandra M. Cope; therefore, be |
18 | | it |
19 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL |
