SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Jeffrey John "Jeff" Staken of Cordova, who passed away on February 28, 2022; and

WHEREAS, Jeff Staken was born to Stanley and Constance (Navurskis) Staken in Chicago on November 22, 1946; he graduated from Austin High School in Chicago; he served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War; he married Suzanne Georgean in Chicago on April 2, 1966; and

WHEREAS, Jeff Staken worked as a fuel handling foreman at the Exelon Nuclear Power Plant in Cordova; after retirement, he became a private contractor for various nuclear power plants across the country; he worked for PLAINS in his last few years; and

WHEREAS, Jeff Staken was a former member of the VFW and the Cordova American Legion; and

WHEREAS, Jeff Staken enjoyed traveling, camping, and being outdoors with his wife; he especially enjoyed hiking with his grandchildren; he loved learning new languages, expanding his knowledge by reading, and making new friends everywhere he went; he loved his family above all; and

WHEREAS, Jeff Staken was preceded in death by his wife, Sue; his parents; his brothers, James Staken and Richard Staken; and his niece, Patty; and

WHEREAS, Jeff Staken is survived by his son, Nick (Barbara) Staken; his daughters, Laura (Scott) Shields and Andria Smith; his grandchildren, Ashley, Samantha (Mike), Andrew, Alex (Katee), Jason, Jeffrey, Nick, Suzanna, Isabella, and Aiden; and his three great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Jeffrey John "Jeff" Staken and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Jeff Staken as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
