2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
3 | to learn of the death of M. Dennis Turner of Danville, who | ||||||
4 | passed away on January 26, 2022; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Dennis Turner was born to A. Martin and Beulah | ||||||
6 | Radebaugh Turner in Indianapolis, Indiana on August 9, 1932; | ||||||
7 | he attended Danville High School, Danville Junior College, and | ||||||
8 | Eastern Illinois University; he served in the U.S. Army during | ||||||
9 | the Korean War; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Dennis Turner returned to the family farm after | ||||||
11 | his military service; he expanded the farm's dairy herd and | ||||||
12 | became more involved with Prairie Farms Dairy, the cooperative | ||||||
13 | through which the farm's milk production had been marketed for | ||||||
14 | several years; during the years that he had a dairy herd, | ||||||
15 | several hundred Danville school children toured the dairy | ||||||
16 | operation at the family farm; he also endeavored to use | ||||||
17 | conservation practices when farming the Sesquicentennial | ||||||
18 | Family Farm soil to leave it better than when he began his | ||||||
19 | tenure as the farm's steward; and
| ||||||
20 | WHEREAS, Dennis Turner was elected to the Board of | ||||||
21 | Directors of Prairie Farms Dairy and served for 21 years; he | ||||||
22 | also represented Prairie Farms on the Board of Directors of |

1 | the Illinois American Dairy Association; during this time, he | ||||||
2 | was asked to serve on the Vermilion County Farm Bureau Board; | ||||||
3 | he was also asked to serve on the building committee for the | ||||||
4 | new Vermilion County Center for Agriculture when it was built; | ||||||
5 | and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Dennis Turner served as secretary of the Water | ||||||
7 | Authority Board and was one of three Blount Township citizens | ||||||
8 | to be appointed to serve as a trustee of the Blount Township | ||||||
9 | Water Authority when it was organized in 1994; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Dennis Turner was a member of Farmers Chapel | ||||||
11 | Church, and he served as treasurer and trustee chairman of the | ||||||
12 | Building Fund; he was also a member of the Robert Wurtsbaugh | ||||||
13 | Chapter of Korean War Veterans Association, where he served on | ||||||
14 | the honor guard; and
| ||||||
15 | WHEREAS, Dennis Turner was immensely proud of his family; | ||||||
16 | and
| ||||||
17 | WHEREAS, Dennis Turner was preceded in death by his | ||||||
18 | parents; his brother, Dale (Jackie); and his infant twins, | ||||||
19 | Norman and Norma; and
| ||||||
20 | WHEREAS, Dennis Turner is survived by his wife, Mabel; his | ||||||
21 | sons, Robert (Robin) Turner and Steven (Tara Bray) Turner; his |

1 | daughter, Donna Carrigan; his grandsons, Chris (Katie), Tyler, | ||||||
2 | and Travis Turner; his granddaughters, Kayla (Alex) Rosdail, | ||||||
3 | Kelsie (Tyler) Cunningham, and Lacey (Aaron) Fessler; his | ||||||
4 | great-grandchildren, Hayleigh Fessler, Hayden Fessler, Myla | ||||||
5 | Cunningham, and Austin Cunningham; his several nieces and | ||||||
6 | nephews; and his good friend, Jerry Edwards; therefore, be it
| ||||||
7 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL | ||||||
8 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
| ||||||
9 | M. Dennis Turner and extend our sincere
condolences to his | ||||||
10 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved
him; and be it | ||||||
11 | further
| ||||||
12 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
| ||||||
13 | presented to the family of Dennis Turner as an expression of
| ||||||
14 | our deepest sympathy.
