2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
3 | | to learn of the death of Martha "Marti" Morrow-Vojacek of |
4 | | Chicago, who passed away on June 20, 2021, which was her 85th |
5 | | birthday; and
|
6 | | WHEREAS, Marti Morrow-Vojacek, alongside her family, lived |
7 | | in different locations in New England throughout her |
8 | | childhood; she was a piano student since childhood; she |
9 | | attended high school and Earlham College in Richmond, Indiana, |
10 | | and she met her first husband, Robert Morrow, at the latter; |
11 | | they moved to Hyde Park in Chicago in 1957; and
|
12 | | WHEREAS, Marti Morrow-Vojacek was a singer in the |
13 | | Disciples of Christ church choir; upon meeting her second |
14 | | husband, Joe Vojacek, she became involved with the performing |
15 | | arts at the University of Chicago; she sang with and sewed |
16 | | costumes for the university's Gilbert & Sullivan Operetta |
17 | | Company; and
|
18 | | WHEREAS, Marti Morrow-Vojacek earned her Bachelor of Arts |
19 | | and Master of Arts in English Literature from Roosevelt |
20 | | University in Chicago; and
|
21 | | WHEREAS, Marti Morrow-Vojacek worked as an administrative |

1 | | assistant for the University of Chicago Divinity School and |
2 | | International House for 20 years before retiring in 1998; and
|
3 | | WHEREAS, Marti Morrow-Vojacek was a baker, a reader, a |
4 | | cinephile, a quilter, and a crossword puzzle player in |
5 | | retirement; she shared her husband's passion for collecting |
6 | | antiques, and they traveled together to find perfect pieces; |
7 | | she enjoyed visiting her daughters, and one of her favorite |
8 | | memories was a 3-week trip to Vienna, Austria in 1989; she also |
9 | | enjoyed sharing her favorite recipes with her daughters; and
|
10 | | WHEREAS, Marti Morrow-Vojacek moved to Oak Park in 2004, |
11 | | where attending her grandsons' school plays became her |
12 | | newfound passion; and
|
13 | | WHEREAS, Marti Morrow-Vojacek is survived by her husband |
14 | | of 38 years, Joe Vojacek; her daughters, Deborah (the late |
15 | | Phillip Kaldon), Rebecca, and Lisa (Benjamin Weinberg); and |
16 | | her grandsons, Elias and Leo Morrow Weinberg; therefore, be it
|
17 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL |
18 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
19 | | Martha "Marti" Morrow-Vojacek and extend our sincere |
20 | | condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved |
21 | | her; and be it further
