2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
3 | to learn of the death of William "Bill" Warren Chase of Corey | ||||||
4 | Lake, Michigan, who passed away on June 25, 2021 at the age of | ||||||
5 | 91; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Bill Chase was born in Oak Park on July 30, 1930; | ||||||
7 | he graduated from Oak Park and River Forest High School, where | ||||||
8 | he met his wife of 67 years, Charlene Lois; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Many of Bill Chase's fondest childhood memories | ||||||
10 | occurred at his family's lake home in Three Rivers, Michigan, | ||||||
11 | which bordered Corey Lake; during these getaways, he developed | ||||||
12 | a passion for waterskiing; and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, Bill Chase was a member of his high school and | ||||||
14 | college swim teams; he attended North Central College in | ||||||
15 | Naperville; and
| ||||||
16 | WHEREAS, Bill Chase ran successful vending and home | ||||||
17 | security businesses during the time he resided in River | ||||||
18 | Forest; his son was a business partner; and
| ||||||
19 | WHEREAS, Bill Chase held positions on numerous boards of | ||||||
20 | trustees in Illinois and Michigan, such as the Service Club of |

1 | Oak Park and the YMCA; other professional and personal | ||||||
2 | memberships included the St. Joseph County Planning | ||||||
3 | Commission, Fabius Township Board of Appeals, St. Joseph | ||||||
4 | County Conservation Club, Rotary Club, Corey Lake Association, | ||||||
5 | and the Corey Lake Yacht Club; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Upon a permanent relocation to Michigan, Bill | ||||||
7 | Chase became a public servant; after 12 years, he retired from | ||||||
8 | the Michigan Department of Transportation at age 72; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Bill Chase parlayed his love of duck hunting, | ||||||
10 | which he was introduced to by his uncle, into a recreational | ||||||
11 | career as a skeet shooting instructor; one of his most | ||||||
12 | prominent students was Paul Harvey; and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, Bill Chase was also a talented curling athlete; | ||||||
14 | he represented Illinois at championships in Fairbanks, Alaska | ||||||
15 | and Quebec, Canada; his wife even joined him in the | ||||||
16 | competitive sport; and
| ||||||
17 | WHEREAS, Another one of Bill Chase's favorite pastimes was | ||||||
18 | antique furniture restoration; his signature project was a | ||||||
19 | 1955 Chris-Craft, which he finished the year his son was born; | ||||||
20 | this boat was featured in many Fourth of July water parades; | ||||||

1 | WHEREAS, Bill Chase is survived by his wife, Charlene; his | ||||||
2 | children, Curtis, Sandra, and Jennifer; his twin grandsons, | ||||||
3 | Kyle and Matthew (Rachel) Bloch; his great-granddaughter, | ||||||
4 | Finley Jane; his siblings, James (Patricia) and Mary; his | ||||||
5 | sisters-in-law, Carol White and Dorothy Cole; and his many | ||||||
6 | nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews; therefore, | ||||||
7 | be it

8 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL | ||||||
9 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
10 | William "Bill" Warren Chase and extend our sincere condolences | ||||||
11 | to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be | ||||||
12 | it further
| ||||||
13 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
14 | presented to the family of Bill Chase as an expression of our | ||||||
15 | deepest sympathy.
