SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of William "Bill" Warren Chase of Corey
4Lake, Michigan, who passed away on June 25, 2021 at the age of
591; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Bill Chase was born in Oak Park on July 30, 1930;
7he graduated from Oak Park and River Forest High School, where
8he met his wife of 67 years, Charlene Lois; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Many of Bill Chase's fondest childhood memories
10occurred at his family's lake home in Three Rivers, Michigan,
11which bordered Corey Lake; during these getaways, he developed
12a passion for waterskiing; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Bill Chase was a member of his high school and
14college swim teams; he attended North Central College in
15Naperville; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Bill Chase ran successful vending and home
17security businesses during the time he resided in River
18Forest; his son was a business partner; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Bill Chase held positions on numerous boards of
20trustees in Illinois and Michigan, such as the Service Club of

1Oak Park and the YMCA; other professional and personal
2memberships included the St. Joseph County Planning
3Commission, Fabius Township Board of Appeals, St. Joseph
4County Conservation Club, Rotary Club, Corey Lake Association,
5and the Corey Lake Yacht Club; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Upon a permanent relocation to Michigan, Bill
7Chase became a public servant; after 12 years, he retired from
8the Michigan Department of Transportation at age 72; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Bill Chase parlayed his love of duck hunting,
10which he was introduced to by his uncle, into a recreational
11career as a skeet shooting instructor; one of his most
12prominent students was Paul Harvey; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Bill Chase was also a talented curling athlete;
14he represented Illinois at championships in Fairbanks, Alaska
15and Quebec, Canada; his wife even joined him in the
16competitive sport; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Another one of Bill Chase's favorite pastimes was
18antique furniture restoration; his signature project was a
191955 Chris-Craft, which he finished the year his son was born;
20this boat was featured in many Fourth of July water parades;
21and

1    WHEREAS, Bill Chase is survived by his wife, Charlene; his
2children, Curtis, Sandra, and Jennifer; his twin grandsons,
3Kyle and Matthew (Rachel) Bloch; his great-granddaughter,
4Finley Jane; his siblings, James (Patricia) and Mary; his
5sisters-in-law, Carol White and Dorothy Cole; and his many
6nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews; therefore,
7be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
10William "Bill" Warren Chase and extend our sincere condolences
11to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
12it further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Bill Chase as an expression of our
15deepest sympathy.
