|
2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
3 | | to learn of the death of Frank M. Zuccarelli of South Holland, |
4 | | who passed away on January 3, 2022; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Frank Zuccarelli was born to Marjorie and James |
6 | | J. Zuccarelli on October 29, 1951; he graduated from |
7 | | Thornridge High School and served as a medic in the U.S. Air |
8 | | Force in Vietnam from 1969 to 1972; he graduated from Thornton |
9 | | Community College (South Suburban College) in 1978; and |
10 | | WHEREAS, Frank Zuccarelli's love for his community was |
11 | | deeply reflected in his work; he created programs that had an |
12 | | impact on many of all ages, providing jobs, health services, |
13 | | and food assistance; Thornton Township ran a massive food |
14 | | pantry in Harvey under his leadership; and
|
15 | | WHEREAS, Frank Zuccarelli was elected to the South |
16 | | Suburban College Board of Trustees in 1978 and served as |
17 | | chairman since 1987, during a tenure that saw the school grow |
18 | | into the third-largest community college system in the United |
19 | | States; he served as supervisor of Thornton Township since |
20 | | 1993 and as Thornton Township Democratic Committeeman since |
21 | | 2002; and |

1 | | WHEREAS, Frank Zuccarelli was an early supporter of |
2 | | then-U.S. Senate hopeful Barack Obama in 2004 and was an |
3 | | essential backer for many candidates looking for a boost from |
4 | | voters in Chicago's south suburbs; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Frank Zuccarelli was awarded the Township |
6 | | Supervisor of the Year in 1996, 2007, and 2012; he received the |
7 | | ICCTA service award in 2019, recognizing his 40 years of |
8 | | service as a trustee; and
|
9 | | WHEREAS, Frank Zuccarelli was a constant pillar of |
10 | | strength and support to those he loved; he will be remembered |
11 | | for his unwavering loyalty and giving heart; he fought for the |
12 | | underdog and, for him, it was about serving others; and
|
13 | | WHEREAS, Frank Zuccarelli was preceded in death by his |
14 | | parents and his brother, James T. Zuccarelli; and
|
15 | | WHEREAS, Frank Zuccarelli is survived by his siblings, |
16 | | Candace (the late John) Paun and Kenneth V. Zuccarelli; his |
17 | | longtime girlfriend, Carmen Canales; his uncle, Robert |
18 | | Boskovich; his aunts, Dawn (Bill) Brown, Sharon (Michael) |
19 | | Myszak, and Denyse (Jim) Taylor; his nephews, John and Joe |
20 | | (Sarah) Paun; his nieces, Marjorie (Greg) Alexander and Lorrin |
21 | | Paun; his great-nieces and great-nephews, Nadia Paun, Junior |
22 | | Paun, Jocelynn Paun, Beau Paun, Dane Paun, Lilly Alexander, |

4 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
5 | | Frank M. Zuccarelli and extend our sincere condolences to his |
6 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it |
7 | | further

8 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
