|
2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
3 | | to learn of the death of Stanton "Stan" J. Gralnick of |
4 | | Springfield, who passed away on January 10, 2022; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Stan Gralnick was born to Alex and Esther |
6 | | Gralnick in St. Louis, Missouri on May 9, 1940; he was educated |
7 | | in St. Louis and University City schools; he received his |
8 | | college education at Washington University and Berkley; he |
9 | | earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Architectural Sciences |
10 | | in 1962; he married Laurel D. Garber in Springfield in 2001; |
11 | | and
|
12 | | WHEREAS, Stan Gralnick was licensed as an architect in |
13 | | Missouri and Illinois; he was also licensed as an asbestos |
14 | | building inspector, project manager, and designer; he owned |
15 | | and operated a scrap metal recycling company in the St. Louis |
16 | | Metro East area for 10 years; he was employed by the State of |
17 | | Illinois Capitol Development Board as a senior program analyst |
18 | | from 1997 until his retirement in 2012; in the course of his |
19 | | career as an architect, he worked on and supervised over 100 |
20 | | projects; his specialty was working on hospitals, and he was |
21 | | especially proud of being a part of projects at Memorial |
22 | | Medical Center, including the Renal Dialysis building and the |
23 | | Daycare Center for children of hospital staff; and

1 | | WHEREAS, Stan Gralnick was a member of the American |
2 | | Institute of Architects and served on the Illinois Council of |
3 | | AIA, on the executive board, and as president of the Sangamon |
4 | | County section; he was a member of the Constructions |
5 | | Specifications Institute, the Springfield Chamber of Commerce, |
6 | | the Springfield Art Association, the American Business Club, |
7 | | and the special committee of School District #186 appointed to |
8 | | study facility utilization; he was a member of and served on |
9 | | the board of directors of the Boys and Girls Club of |
10 | | Springfield, Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Sangamon County, the |
11 | | Certified Development Corporation SBD 503 Program, and the |
12 | | Springfield Bicycle Club; he also served on the board of |
13 | | directors of the Falling Brook Townhomes Association, on the |
14 | | Sangamon County Planning Commission while also serving as |
15 | | president of the Sangamon County Section, and on the Advisory |
16 | | Committee of Sangamon Valley Greenways and Trails; and
|
17 | | WHEREAS, Stan Gralnick was affiliated with Temple Israel |
18 | | for over 40 years, served on its Board of Directors and as |
19 | | House Committee chair, and represented the Temple on the |
20 | | Jewish Community Relations Council; and
|
21 | | WHEREAS, Stan Gralnick is survived by his wife; his |
22 | | children, Jay (Jeanette) Gralnick and Sari Awadalla; his |
23 | | grandchildren, Josef and Sofia Awadalla and Kerianna and |

1 | | Corbin Gralnick; his sister, Toby (Jeff) Shear; and his |
2 | | sisters-in-law, Gwen (David) Martens and Lisa (Greg) Reis; |

5 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of

6 | | Stanton "Stan" J. Gralnick and extend our sincere
condolences |
7 | | to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
him; and be |
