SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Donald Eugene Brandon, who passed away
4on December 29, 2021; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Donald Brandon was born to Donald Eldridge
6Brandon and Charlotte Yvette Brown Brandon in Springfield on
7March 6, 1962; he was baptized at Union Baptist Church as a
8child and served there as a Jr. Usher; he attended Springfield
9Public Schools and graduated from Springfield Southeast High
10School where he was a standout point guard for the Southeast
11High School basketball team; he received an associate degree
12from Monmouth College; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Donald Brandon later began working as a security
14guard at Southeast High School; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Donald Brandon was a die-hard Southeast High
16School fan who could always be seen on the sidelines cheering
17on his beloved Southeast Spartans; he was affectionately
18called "Donnie B." or "Mr. Spartan" and took great pride in
19representing his Spartans against the crosstown rival Lanphier
20Lions; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Donald Brandon was preceded in death by his

1mother; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Donald Brandon is survived by his daughters,
3Donita Brandon and Donnesha Brandon; his son, Rovale D. Reese;
4his father and stepmother, Donald and Arlene Brandon; his nine
5grandchildren; his aunts, Gladys Richie, Betty J. White, and
6Velma Rucker; his uncle, Nathan (Colleen) Brown; his special
7cousin, Rosemary Nash; his stepsisters, Tina (Tony) Crawford,
8Debra (Lorenzo) Link, and Donna Ester; his stepbrothers, Roy
9Williams Jr. and Michael (Doris) Williams; his cousins; and
10his friends; therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
13Donald Eugene Brandon and extend our sincere condolences to
14his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
15further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of Donald Brandon as an expression of
18our deepest sympathy.
