SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Charles "Pickle" Burns of Moline, who
4passed away on December 19, 2021; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Charles Burns was born in Matherville to John
6Francis and Violet Louise (Palmer) Burns on December 3, 1938;
7he graduated from Sherrard High School and Lincoln Barber
8College; he married Wanita M. Hawn in Buffalo Prairie on
9October 4, 1964; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Charles Burns barbered at Heberlings and Jim
11Beams Barber shops on the Avenue of the Cities in Moline before
12entering the U.S. Navy; he was employed by UnityPoint Health
13as security and retired in 2000 after 20 years; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Charles Burns enjoyed collectible cars and
15dancing to country music; he was given a lifetime membership
16from contributions made to Moline American Legion Post 246 and
17was a lifetime member of Chapter 299 Vietnam Veterans; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Charles Burns was preceded in death by his
19parents; his sister, Phyllis; and his brother, John Burns Jr.
20(MIA-KIA/POW Korea); and

1    WHEREAS, Charles Burns is survived by his wife, Wanita;
2his daughters, Cindy (Brian) Lindsey and Julie Wilson; his
3grandchildren, Emiley (Matt) Luckey, Jacquelyne (Trey) Black,
4Sean (Andrea) Black, Ben Lindsey, Morgan Lindsey, and Bridget
5(James) Crocker; his great-grandchild, Noah Lindsey; and his
6special brother, Rex McIntire; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9Charles Burns and extend our sincere condolences to his
10family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
11further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Charles Burns as an expression of
14our deepest sympathy.
