2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
3 | | to learn of the death of Olof Evald "Olle" Johnson of Moline, |
4 | | who passed away on December 12, 2021; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Olof Johnson was born to Olof F. and Ingrid |
6 | | Anderson Johnson in Moline on December 1939; he graduated from |
7 | | Moline High School and Augustana College; he married Caran |
8 | | Louise Hylander at Gloria Dei Lutheran in Providence, Rhode |
9 | | Island in 1968; he served in the U.S. Army Security Agency and |
10 | | was assigned to Kagnew Station, a remote listening post in |
11 | | Ethiopia; and
|
12 | | WHEREAS, Olof Johnson was employed with International |
13 | | Harvester at the Farmall Plant for 20 years; he then worked as |
14 | | an intelligence specialist for the U.S. Army Industrial |
15 | | Operations Command at the Rock Island Arsenal and then as the |
16 | | special security officer for the U.S. Army Sustainment |
17 | | Command; he retired in 2007 after 24 years of government |
18 | | service; and

19 | | WHEREAS, Olof Johnson was baptized and confirmed at First |
20 | | Lutheran in Moline; he was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church |
21 | | in Moline for 56 years; and
|

1 | | WHEREAS, Olof Johnson was proud of his Swedish heritage; |
2 | | he was widely traveled, taking annual summer camping trips |
3 | | with his family across the U.S.A. and having traveled to 40 |
4 | | countries on five continents; he took great pride in enhancing |
5 | | and maintaining his yard, and he enjoyed sitting under the |
6 | | pergola after dinner to be entertained by hummingbirds and the |
7 | | occasional deer; he also enjoyed fly fishing, taking annual |
8 | | trips to the Bennett Spring State Park, riding his Harley |
9 | | motorcycle, shooting sports, and bicycling; he spent his |
10 | | retirement years enjoying his family and friends, traveling, |
11 | | and spending ten wonderful winters in The Villages, Florida; |
12 | | and
|
13 | | WHEREAS, Olof Johnson was preceded in death by his sister, |
14 | | Gertrude Phillips, and his nephew, John Phillips; and
|
15 | | WHEREAS, Olof Johnson is survived by his wife of almost 53 |
16 | | years, Caran; his son, Karl; his son, Kai, and his |
17 | | daughter-in-law, Tricia; his grandsons, Jake and Dane; his |
18 | | nieces and nephew, Kristina Napiorkowski, Kirsten Paluska, and |
19 | | Ken Hylander; and his loving family and friends; therefore, be |
20 | | it

21 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL |
22 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
23 | | Olof Evald "Olle" Johnson and extend our sincere condolences |
