2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
3 | to learn of the deaths of Patricia "Pat" A. Glenn, who passed | ||||||
4 | away on November 3, 2021, and James "Jim" A. Glenn, who passed | ||||||
5 | away on August 1, 2021, both of New Holland; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Patricia Glenn was born to Robert Charles and | ||||||
7 | Lucinda Mae McCauley Halcott on her family's Centennial Farm | ||||||
8 | near Streator on March 12, 1943; she graduated from Streator | ||||||
9 | High School in 1961; she attended Illinois State University | ||||||
10 | and the University of Illinois; she earned a bachelor's degree | ||||||
11 | in Business Administration, a master's degree in Educational | ||||||
12 | Psychology, and a doctorate in Educational Administration; she | ||||||
13 | married James Glenn on November 9, 1974; and
| ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, James A. Glenn was born to Edward R. and Frances | ||||||
15 | May Fulton Glenn in the family home in Middletown on December | ||||||
16 | 27, 1931; he graduated from Middletown High School in 1949; he | ||||||
17 | attended Lincoln College and Millikin University; he then | ||||||
18 | served in the U.S. Army as a military policeman and clerk in | ||||||
19 | Korea during the Korean Conflict; and
| ||||||
20 | WHEREAS, Patricia Glenn was an educator who started her | ||||||
21 | career by teaching business subjects at Beason High School | ||||||
22 | until it consolidated with Lincoln Community High School; at |

1 | that time, she became a high school guidance counselor at | ||||||
2 | Lincoln; she retired from that position in May of 2001; she | ||||||
3 | subsequently became a real estate agent and earned her broker | ||||||
4 | manager license and green certifications; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, James Glenn became involved in the automotive | ||||||
6 | business in 1954; he purchased a Pontiac-Cadillac dealership | ||||||
7 | on April 1, 1961 and became the youngest Pontiac-Cadillac | ||||||
8 | Dealer in the United States at 29 years old; a fourth | ||||||
9 | generation Logan County merchant, he operated Glenn | ||||||
10 | Pontiac-Cadillac from 1961 to 1997; he then operated a used | ||||||
11 | car lot under the historical family business name, "J. Glenn & | ||||||
12 | Co"; and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, Patricia Glenn volunteered with the Abraham | ||||||
14 | Lincoln Memorial Hospital Stardust Ball, the Lincoln College | ||||||
15 | Grand Soiree, and Boy Scout Troop #102 for many years; she was | ||||||
16 | a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the | ||||||
17 | Mayflower Society, as a proud direct Mayflower descendant; and
| ||||||
18 | WHEREAS, James Glenn was a member of Lincoln Elks Lodge | ||||||
19 | #914, American Legion Post #263, Lincoln Masonic Lodge #210, | ||||||
20 | and the Ansar Shrine and Logan County Shrine Clubs; and | ||||||
21 | WHEREAS, Patricia Glenn enjoyed buying and selling | ||||||
22 | antiques and genealogy research; and

1 | WHEREAS, James Glenn enjoyed working outside at his home | ||||||
2 | in the country; he was a golfer and, later in life, enjoyed | ||||||
3 | taking road trips based on recommendations from farm | ||||||
4 | magazines; he also enjoyed attending football and basketball | ||||||
5 | games at the University of Illinois and was an avid St. Louis | ||||||
6 | Cardinals fan; and
| ||||||
7 | WHEREAS, Patricia and James Glenn are survived by their | ||||||
8 | son, James R. Glenn Jr.; therefore, be it
| ||||||
9 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL | ||||||
10 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
11 | Patricia "Pat" A. and James "Jim" A. Glenn and extend our | ||||||
12 | sincere condolences to their family, friends, and all who knew | ||||||
13 | and loved them; and be it further
| ||||||
14 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
15 | presented to the family of Patricia and James Glenn as an | ||||||
16 | expression of our deepest sympathy.
