SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the deaths of Patricia "Pat" A. Glenn, who passed
4away on November 3, 2021, and James "Jim" A. Glenn, who passed
5away on August 1, 2021, both of New Holland; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Patricia Glenn was born to Robert Charles and
7Lucinda Mae McCauley Halcott on her family's Centennial Farm
8near Streator on March 12, 1943; she graduated from Streator
9High School in 1961; she attended Illinois State University
10and the University of Illinois; she earned a bachelor's degree
11in Business Administration, a master's degree in Educational
12Psychology, and a doctorate in Educational Administration; she
13married James Glenn on November 9, 1974; and
 
14    WHEREAS, James A. Glenn was born to Edward R. and Frances
15May Fulton Glenn in the family home in Middletown on December
1627, 1931; he graduated from Middletown High School in 1949; he
17attended Lincoln College and Millikin University; he then
18served in the U.S. Army as a military policeman and clerk in
19Korea during the Korean Conflict; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Patricia Glenn was an educator who started her
21career by teaching business subjects at Beason High School
22until it consolidated with Lincoln Community High School; at

1that time, she became a high school guidance counselor at
2Lincoln; she retired from that position in May of 2001; she
3subsequently became a real estate agent and earned her broker
4manager license and green certifications; and
 
5    WHEREAS, James Glenn became involved in the automotive
6business in 1954; he purchased a Pontiac-Cadillac dealership
7on April 1, 1961 and became the youngest Pontiac-Cadillac
8Dealer in the United States at 29 years old; a fourth
9generation Logan County merchant, he operated Glenn
10Pontiac-Cadillac from 1961 to 1997; he then operated a used
11car lot under the historical family business name, "J. Glenn &
12Co"; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Patricia Glenn volunteered with the Abraham
14Lincoln Memorial Hospital Stardust Ball, the Lincoln College
15Grand Soiree, and Boy Scout Troop #102 for many years; she was
16a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the
17Mayflower Society, as a proud direct Mayflower descendant; and
 
18    WHEREAS, James Glenn was a member of Lincoln Elks Lodge
19#914, American Legion Post #263, Lincoln Masonic Lodge #210,
20and the Ansar Shrine and Logan County Shrine Clubs; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Patricia Glenn enjoyed buying and selling
22antiques and genealogy research; and

1    WHEREAS, James Glenn enjoyed working outside at his home
2in the country; he was a golfer and, later in life, enjoyed
3taking road trips based on recommendations from farm
4magazines; he also enjoyed attending football and basketball
5games at the University of Illinois and was an avid St. Louis
6Cardinals fan; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Patricia and James Glenn are survived by their
8son, James R. Glenn Jr.; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
11Patricia "Pat" A. and James "Jim" A. Glenn and extend our
12sincere condolences to their family, friends, and all who knew
13and loved them; and be it further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Patricia and James Glenn as an
16expression of our deepest sympathy.
