2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
3 | | to learn of the death of Mary L. Haynes of Peoria, who passed |
4 | | away on November 26, 2021; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Mary Haynes was born to Silas and Lydia (Steiner) |
6 | | Hohulin in Peoria Heights on July 17, 1942; and
|
7 | | WHEREAS, Mary Haynes was the first female elected as the |
8 | | Peoria City Clerk/Town Clerk and enjoyed the privilege of |
9 | | working for the citizens of Peoria from 1985 to 2012; one of |
10 | | her most satisfying roles was to chair the "Rediscovering City |
11 | | Hall" project, which brought the Peoria City Hall back to its |
12 | | former glory; and
|
13 | | WHEREAS, Mary Haynes was a longtime member of Grace |
14 | | Presbyterian Church but recently enjoyed attending services |
15 | | with her family at Great Oaks Community Church; she placed her |
16 | | faith at the forefront of her life, followed by family and then |
17 | | friends; and
|
18 | | WHEREAS, Mary Haynes loved spending time with her family |
19 | | and friends, playing bridge and golf, attending the Peoria |
20 | | Symphony, and writing poetry; she also loved teaching Sunday |
21 | | school and speaking on topics in the Clerk's profession; she |
|

1 | | enjoyed watching Bradley Braves basketball, Cubs baseball, and |
2 | | her grandsons' sporting events; she was a devoted mother and |
3 | | grandmother; and
|
4 | | WHEREAS, Mary Haynes was preceded in death by her three |
5 | | brothers, Martin, Al, and Vern; her sister, Ruth Huthmann; her |
6 | | brothers-in-law, George Huthmann and Silas Knobloch; and her |
7 | | dear sisters-in-law, Mary Kay (Schupp) Hohulin and Shirley |
8 | | (Leman) Hohulin; and
|
9 | | WHEREAS, Mary Haynes is survived by her son, Eric |
10 | | (Theresa) Haynes; her daughter, Kris Hohulin; her two |
11 | | grandchildren, Calvin Haynes and Alex (Mercedes) Haynes; her |
12 | | great-granddaughter, Hope; her many nieces and nephews; her |
13 | | sister, Edith Knobloch; her brothers, Ben (Lynette) Hohulin |
14 | | and Melvin Hohulin; and her sisters-in-law, Marie Hohulin and |
15 | | Marty Kupfer; therefore, be it

16 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL |
17 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
