2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
3 | | to learn of the death of Alvin W. Martin Jr. of Rock Island, |
4 | | who passed away on November 11, 2021; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Alvin Martin was born to Alvin and Marie |
6 | | (Vansoye) Martin in Moline on April 22, 1931; he served in the |
7 | | U.S. Army during the Korean War; he married Frances |
8 | | Hockenberry on April 4, 1952 while stationed at Camp Cook in |
9 | | California; and
|
10 | | WHEREAS, Alvin Martin worked as a master electrician for |
11 | | the Rock Island Lines, Farmall, and Williams White and |
12 | | Company, Moline; and
|
13 | | WHEREAS, Alvin Martin belonged to the International |
14 | | Association of Machinists, the Knights of Columbus Allouez |
15 | | Council 658, and AARP; he was an original member of St. Pius X |
16 | | Catholic Church, Rock Island; and
|
17 | | WHEREAS, Alvin Martin was an avid Chicago Cubs and Iowa |
18 | | Hawkeye fan and coached Little League Baseball for many years; |
19 | | he and his wife enjoyed summers in Bagley, Wisconsin and their |
20 | | 18 years of wintering in Jensen Beach, Florida; and

1 | | WHEREAS, Alvin Martin was preceded in death by his wife; |
2 | | his parents; his siblings, Joyce Eisentrager and Jerry Martin; |
3 | | his grandson, Jacob Crawford; and his daughter-in-law, Becky |
4 | | Marti; and

5 | | WHEREAS, Alvin Martin is survived by his children, Rick |
6 | | (Kathee) Martin, Cindy Crawford, Deborah Carlson, Michelle |
7 | | (Ed) Vize, Bradley Martin, and Jennifer (Jeff) Wendland; his |
8 | | grandchildren, Lynn (Aaron) Justinger, Luke (Courtney) Martin, |
9 | | Brett (Sandra) Martin, Michael (Amy) Crawford, Joe (Christine |
10 | | Lehigh) Crawford, Gregory (Kyra) Carlson, Ed (Kathy) Vize, |
11 | | Eric (Joei) Vize, Sarah (Randy) Stevens, Allyson (Ken) Dogan, |
12 | | Alexander (Samantha) Martin, Patrick Martin, Scott (Tara) |
13 | | Wendland, and Meaghan (Ben) Jackson; his granddaughter-in-law, |
14 | | Christina Lee; his 26 great-grandchildren; and his numerous |
