| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
3 | to learn of the death of Keith O. Gellerstedt of Moline, who | ||||||
4 | passed away on November 8, 2021; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Keith Gellerstedt was born in Moline to Carl and | ||||||
6 | Carolyn (Nelson) Gellerstedt on April 22, 1926; he graduated | ||||||
7 | from Moline High School in 1944 and served in the U.S. Army | ||||||
8 | 75th Division during World War II; he traveled to Europe on the | ||||||
9 | Queen Mary at the age of 17 and became a member of what was | ||||||
10 | affectionately called the "Diaper Division"; he served in | ||||||
11 | France, Germany, and Belgium and fought in the Battle of the | ||||||
12 | Bulge; he married Marie A. Kaufmann in Moline on March 16, | ||||||
13 | 1957; and
| ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, Keith Gellerstedt returned from service and | ||||||
15 | studied to become a computer programmer; he worked in the data | ||||||
16 | processing division for Deere and Company and, later, for the | ||||||
17 | Bendix Corp., which became Litton Industries; he retired in | ||||||
18 | 1986; he also spent many years working with Marie and their | ||||||
19 | sons at her business, Nixalite of America; and
| ||||||
20 | WHEREAS, Keith Gellerstedt participated in the October | ||||||
21 | 2009 Honor Flight to Washington, D.C.; he was a member of | ||||||
22 | Trinity Lutheran Church in Moline and the Ex-Servicemen's |

1 | Club; he was a former member of the Moline Elks, the Turners | ||||||
2 | Club, the Vikings Club, and American Legion Post 246; he loved | ||||||
3 | spending time at their river home in Cordova, boating and | ||||||
4 | working in the yard; he had a very artistic side and loved his | ||||||
5 | sweets and a dry Rob Roy with a twist served "up"; most of all | ||||||
6 | he loved spending time with his family; and

7 | WHEREAS, Keith Gellerstedt is survived by his wife, Marie; | ||||||
8 | his daughter, Lori (Jeff) Doroba; his sons, Keith Todd | ||||||
9 | (Debbie), Jon Erik (Stephenie), and Cory (Julie) Gellerstedt; | ||||||
10 | his grandchildren, Sophie, Brian, and Molly Doroba, Carolyn | ||||||
11 | (Brian) Harvey, and Kenny (Rachel), Jake, Hannah, Britta, | ||||||
12 | Nick, and Emma Gellerstedt; his great-grandchildren, Jude and | ||||||
13 | Zoe Gellerstedt; and baby Dean Harvey due in March; therefore, | ||||||
14 | be it

15 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL | ||||||
16 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
17 | Keith O. Gellerstedt and extend our sincere condolences to his | ||||||
18 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
19 | further

20 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
21 | presented to the family of Keith Gellerstedt as an expression | ||||||
22 | of our deepest sympathy.
