SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Jelani Jesse Javontae Day of Danville;
4and
 
5    WHEREAS, Jelani Day was born to Seve Day and Carmen Bolden
6Day in Danville on June 15, 1996; he earned his bachelor's
7degree in Communicative Sciences and Disorders from Alabama
8A&M University in Huntsville, Alabama; he was currently
9pursuing his Master of Science in Speech Language Pathology at
10Illinois State University in Normal; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Jelani Day was a member of the Nu Epsilon Chapter
12of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc. of Alabama A&M
13University, 100 Black Men of Greater Huntsville, Collegiate
14100, and the House Arrest dance team; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Jelani Day was the fourth of five siblings and
16the third of three sons; he was very close to his family,
17especially his siblings, who were his best friends; he wanted
18to make sure his parents were taken care of and provided for,
19and he devoted a lot of his time to ensuring his father was
20being looked after and taken care of due to health issues; he
21dreamed of having a family of his own one day; and

1    WHEREAS, Jelani Day committed to his faith at a young age;
2he was a devoted and active member of St. Synagogue COGIC,
3where he was a member of the drill team growing up, loved
4vacation Bible school, participated in the Purity Class,
5attended Tuesday Night Bible Study, and was a member of the
6choir; he loved his church, pastor, and church family; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Jelani Day was known as a protector, a debater,
8and the life and energy of his family; he enjoyed life, and he
9loved cooking, making jokes, traveling, dancing, and having
10fun; he will be dearly missed; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Jelani Day was preceded in death by his
12grandparents, Jesse and Lucille Day; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Jelani Day is survived by his parents, Seve Day
14and Carmen Bolden Day; his brothers, D'Andre and Seve Day; his
15sisters, Dacara Bolden and Zena Day; his grandmother, Gloria
16Bolden; his aunt, Terri Davis; his uncle, Gary Bolden; and a
17host of great-aunts and great-uncles, cousins, and friends;
18therefore, be it
 
19    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
20ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
21Jelani Jesse Javontae Day and extend our sincere condolences
22to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
