SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Mary Sheila Tracy of Springfield, who
4passed away on September 24, 2021; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Mary Sheila Tracy was born in Alton to John
6Eugene and Marian (O'Haver) Tracy on August 26, 1951; she had
7been a resident of Springfield since the age of 10; she
8graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in 1969; she earned both
9her bachelor and master's degrees from the University of
10Illinois at Springfield; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Mary Sheila Tracy began working at University of
12Illinois at Springfield (UIS) at a young age; she found her
13calling in education and started teaching at UIS after earning
14her master's degree; she began Girl Tech while at UIS, which
15encouraged middle school girls who were interested in science
16to continue studying it, and she was very proud of the program;
17she also served as a faculty advisor to the Catholic Students
18Organization; she officially retired from UIS in 2017, but she
19remained involved after her retirement; she began teaching
20technology at Christ the King School in 2016; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Mary Sheila Tracy was a member of Christ the King
22Church and was instrumental in the parish Why Catholic?

1program; she served as an eucharistic minister at Christ the
2King Church and the Memorial Medical Center; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Mary Sheila Tracy enjoyed spending time with her
4family and friends and was always available if someone needed
5help; she was known for her home baked cookies that she gave to
6coworkers, students, and friends; she was an avid seamstress
7and quilter; she will be greatly missed; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Mary Sheila Tracy was preceded in death by her
9parents and her brother, Timothy Tracy; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Mary Sheila Tracy is survived by her brother,
11Terence M. Tracy; her sister, Eileen (Brad) Wisler; her niece
12and nephew, Tracy (Kalvin) Davis and Brian Wisler; and her
13great-niece, Blair Davis; therefore, be it
 
14    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
15ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
16Mary Sheila Tracy and extend our sincere condolences to her
17family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
18further
 
19    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20presented to the family of Mary Sheila Tracy as an expression
21of our deepest sympathy.
