2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
3 | | to learn of the death of Ronald Gene "Ron" Stradt of |
4 | | Springfield, who passed away on September 26, 2021; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Ron Stradt was born in Davenport, Iowa to Robert |
6 | | Gene Stradt and Helen Sherie Morrow on March 25, 1963; he was |
7 | | raised in Moline and graduated from Moline High School in |
8 | | 1981; he attended the Kansai University of Foreign Languages |
9 | | in Osaka, Japan and received his Bachelor of Arts in Business |
10 | | Management from the University of Maryland; he received his |
11 | | Master of Science in Policy Economics from the University of |
12 | | Illinois and his Juris Doctor from Northern Illinois |
13 | | University in 1996; he served in the U.S. Marine Corps from |
14 | | 1983 to 1988; and
|
15 | | WHEREAS, Ron Stradt remained in Tokyo, Japan after being |
16 | | discharged from the military and worked as an associate in the |
17 | | legal affairs department with Honda Motors and as a technical |
18 | | writer with Passage Technical Publishing & Translation; he was |
19 | | previously employed as an attorney at the Illinois Department |
20 | | of Securities, as an Assistant State's Attorney in Rock Island |
21 | | County, as Assistant Attorney General for the State of |
22 | | Illinois, and as Legal Counsel for the Illinois Senate |
23 | | Judiciary Committee; most recently, he was employed as the |

1 | | Associate General Counsel at the Illinois Education |
2 | | Association in Springfield; and
|
3 | | WHEREAS, Ron Stradt belonged to the Sangamon County Bar |
4 | | Association and the Government Bar Association; he was |
5 | | learning to fly, made several solo flights, and was in the |
6 | | final stages of qualifying as a pilot; he enjoyed music and |
7 | | live concerts and played the drums, saxophone, and guitar; he |
8 | | inherited his mother's talent for the piano and could always |
9 | | answer a question with a song clip; and |
10 | | WHEREAS, Ron Stradt's daughter, Sophia, was the light of |
11 | | his life; they enjoyed downhill skiing and made numerous trips |
12 | | together to Disney World; he relished their time together in |
13 | | the kitchen trying new recipes, and the two-story backyard |
14 | | playhouse he hand-built for her was a labor of love; and
|
15 | | WHEREAS, Ron Stradt was preceded in death by his mother, |
16 | | Helen Morrow; his stepmother, Carol Stradt; and his niece, |
17 | | Sarah Genberg; and
|
18 | | WHEREAS, Ron Stradt is survived by his father, Robert G. |
19 | | Stradt; his daughter, Sophia Stradt; his siblings, Robert P. |
20 | | (Julie) Stradt, Sandy (Scott) Genberg, Robyn Stradt (Dale |
21 | | Clark), Steve (Kerry) Adams, Mike (Leslie) Adams, Deb (Rod) |

11 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
12 | | Ronald Gene "Ron" Stradt and extend our sincere condolences to |
13 | | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it |
14 | | further

15 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
16 | | presented to the family of Ron Stradt as an expression of our |
17 | | deepest sympathy.
