| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
3 | to learn of the death of Catherine "Kay" Agnes Duff of Forest | ||||||
4 | Park, who passed away on August 12, 2021 at the age of 91; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Kay Duff was born on October 27, 1929 on the West | ||||||
6 | Side of Chicago; and
| ||||||
7 | WHEREAS, Kay Duff attended Providence High School; she was | ||||||
8 | an active member of the Presentation Young People's Club, | ||||||
9 | through which she met her future husband of 57 years, the late | ||||||
10 | John (Jack) Duff; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Kay Duff and Jack married and then moved to Oak | ||||||
12 | Park where they raised their ten children; she worked as a | ||||||
13 | devoted mother who never took a day off, remembered every | ||||||
14 | birthday, and always tended to each of her children's needs | ||||||
15 | without ever driving a car; and
| ||||||
16 | WHEREAS, Kay Duff was an active member of the community | ||||||
17 | and was deeply involved in religious life; she was a loyal | ||||||
18 | member of Ascension Parish and was involved in the Altar & | ||||||
19 | Rosary Society as well as the many activities in which her | ||||||
20 | children participated; and

1 | WHEREAS, Once her children were grown, Kay Duff worked as | ||||||
2 | a trusted receptionist for the Wednesday Journal; and
| ||||||
3 | WHEREAS, Kay Duff will be remembered as a loving mother, | ||||||
4 | grandmother, friend, and beloved aunt and great-aunt to many; | ||||||
5 | she will be missed dearly by all; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Kay Duff was the mother of John, Kathleen, Thomas | ||||||
7 | (Pam), James (Wendy), Anne (Robert) Dorneker, Margaret | ||||||
8 | (William) Walsh, Mary (James) Arey, Patricia (Robert) Marino, | ||||||
9 | Robert, and the late Susan (the late John) Sbarbaro; the | ||||||
10 | grandmother of Ainsly, Benjamin, Amanda, Thomas, Kaitlyn, | ||||||
11 | Kevin, Elizabeth, Kelly, Maggie, Meredith, Joseph, Patrick, | ||||||
12 | Matthew, Nicole, James, John, Marikate, Jack, and Samuel; the | ||||||
13 | great-grandmother of Colin, Clare, Josephine, Thomas, Cadence, | ||||||
14 | and Tenley; and the sister of William (Anita), Lawrence (Mary) | ||||||
15 | Frankel, the late Margaret (the late Charles) May, Hugo, | ||||||
16 | Robert (Dorothy), Loretta Marren, and Howard and Virginia | ||||||
17 | Frankel; therefore, be it

18 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL | ||||||
19 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
20 | Catherine Agnes "Kay" Duff and extend our sincere condolences | ||||||
21 | to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be | ||||||
22 | it further
