SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened 
3to learn of the death of Edward "Big Ed" Jawoisz of Rock 
4Island, who  passed away on October 10, 2021; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Edward Jawoisz was born in Moline to John and 
6Jadwiga Zelnio Jawoisz on March 22, 1928; he graduated from 
7Moline High School, where he was a star basketball player; he 
8served in the U.S. Marine Corps and married Elaine M. Scheel in 
9Rock Island on August 12, 1950; and
  
 
10    WHEREAS, Edward Jawoisz was a supervisor at the Moline 
11Post Office and retired in 1983 after 33 years of service; and
  
 
12    WHEREAS, Edward Jawoisz was a member of St. Mary Catholic 
13Church in Rock Island; he enjoyed visiting Jumer's Casino, 
14where he was an Emerald Club member; he was an avid fan of 
15Notre Dame sports; and
  
 
16    WHEREAS, Edward Jawoisz was preceded in death by his 
17daughter, Julie Jawoisz; his son, John E. Jawoisz; his 
18parents; his sister, Helena Jawoisz; and his sister-in-law, 
19Carolyn Jawoisz; and
  
 
20    WHEREAS, Edward Jawoisz is survived by his wife of 71

1years, Elaine; his daughters, Jeri (John) Lauer, Jody (Corey) 
2Rivett, and Joni (Jerry) Gates; his grandchildren, Tim (Nancy) 
3Lauer, Laura (Zach) Vroman, Emily Jawoisz, Marcus Hawkins, and 
4Sara Hawkins; four great-grandchildren; his brother, Nick 
5Jawoisz; several nieces and nephews; his sister-in-law, 
6Dorothy Yotts; and his special friends, King Au and Gail 
7Warren; therefore, be it
  
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL 
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of 
10Edward "Big Ed" Jawoisz and extend our sincere condolences to 
11his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it 
12further
  
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
14presented to  the family of  Edward Jawoisz as an expression of 
15our deepest sympathy.
