SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Nicolas Morales of Joliet, who passed away on September 29, 2021; and

WHEREAS, Nicolas Morales was born in Mexico on April 28, 1935; and

WHEREAS, Nicolas Morales farmed on the family land in Mexico until he relocated to Joliet; he worked for the E.J. & E. Railroad until he retired in 1997; and

WHEREAS, Nicolas Morales was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church; he enjoyed spending time with his family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, Nicolas Morales was preceded in death by his daughter, Josefina Grassity; his parents, Jose and Marina Morales; his brothers, Inocencio and Guadalupe; and his sisters, Luz, Oliva, and Maria de Jesus; and

WHEREAS, Nicolas Morales is survived by his wife, Luz Morales (Serrato); his son, Nick (the late Liza) Morales; his daughters, Luci (Bryon Booker) Serrato, Alicia (Pedro Aguilera) Morales, Lupe (Art) Pinon, and Veronica (Ruben) Aguilera; his grandchildren, Daniel (Lauren) Herrera, Mauricio (Amanda) Herrera, Katherine Colome, Carlos (Tatiana) Morales, Adrian (Jazmin) Morales, Nicolas Morales, Frankie Morales, Alex (Jocelin) Grassity, Cassandra Grassity, Tania Pinon, Enrique Pinon, Vinny Aguilera, and Samantha Aguilera; his seven great-grandchildren; his son-in-law, Luis Grassity; and his sisters, Carmen Morales, Juana Flores, and Sr. Socorro Morales; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Nicolas Morales and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Nicolas Morales as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
