SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Carl Ray McDonald of Granite City, who
4passed away on August 19, 2021; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Carl McDonald was born in Granite City to Thomas
6and Lela Fern (Alexander) McDonald on October 8, 1937; he
7served in the U.S. Army; he married Carol F. Miller, and she
8preceded him in death on March 29, 2021; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Carl McDonald was a chemist for United States
10Steel; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Carl McDonald was a past member of Calvary
12Baptist Church in Granite City, where he served as the choir
13director; he was an active member of Granite City Masonic
14Lodge #835 and the Scottish Rite in Belleville; he was an
15outdoorsman who was a member of Ducks Unlimited and the NRA,
16and he enjoyed tracking migratory waterfowl as well as hunting
17ducks and geese; he also had a talent for duck calling; he was
18an avid fisherman, an expert woodworker, and a member of
19S.O.A.R.; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Carl McDonald was well known as a very giving and
21selfless person who was willing to help anyone in need; he

1loved his family most of all and will be remembered for all the
2special times he shared with them; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Carl McDonald was preceded in death by his
4parents; his wife; and his sister, Barbara Modrusic; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Carl McDonald is survived by his daughter, Laura
6Meehan; his son, Kelly McDonald and Jim Davis; his
7granddaughter, Erika Meehan; his brother, Roger McDonald; and
8his dogs, Sparky and Abby; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
11Carl Ray McDonald and extend our sincere condolences to his
12family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
13further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Carl McDonald as an expression of
16our deepest sympathy.
