|
2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
3 | | to learn of the death of Stacy Lynn Phillips of Decatur, who |
4 | | passed away on July 2, 2021; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Stacy Phillips was born in Peoria to James W. and |
6 | | Treva C. Wright on April 4, 1976; she graduated from |
7 | | Argenta-Oreana High School in 1994; she married Felipe |
8 | | Phillips on June 13, 1998; and
|
9 | | WHEREAS, Stacy Phillips established a career in customer |
10 | | service; she was employed by APAC, UPS, and the City of |
11 | | Decatur, where she provided exemplary service with every |
12 | | interaction; and
|
13 | | WHEREAS, Stacy Phillips was a true coach's wife and |
14 | | basketball mom; always supportive, she did everything she |
15 | | could to ensure that her husband's and son's needs were |
16 | | covered for every sports event; she attended every game in |
17 | | which her basketball family participated and supported her |
18 | | husband, son, and other student-athletes in many additional |
19 | | ways, making meals, creating t-shirts, and serving as a mom |
20 | | for the team; she also served the community by working the |
21 | | concessions at Lanphier High School basketball games; and

1 | | WHEREAS, Stacy Phillips committed to her faith at an early |
2 | | age at Zion Baptist Church in Peoria; she was a member of |
3 | | Antioch Missionary Baptist Church; she had a gift for |
4 | | scrapbooking, and she sold many of her own original creations; |
5 | | she also designed t-shirts for various athletic events and |
6 | | family celebrations; she will be remembered for being strong, |
7 | | sweet, loving, determined, resilient, creative, and beautiful |
8 | | inside and out; and
|
9 | | WHEREAS, Stacy Phillips is survived by her husband, Felipe |
10 | | Phillips; her sons, Marquis (Brittney) Kilburn and Mekhi |
11 | | Phillips; her brothers, James Wright, Cyrus Wright, and Eric |
12 | | (Tracey) Wright; her sisters, Linda (Bill) Morgan, Kimberly |
13 | | Chambers, and Melba (Robert) McNichols; her father-in-law and |
14 | | mother-in-law, Richard and Cynthia Phillips; her |
15 | | brother-in-law, Marcus (Brandi) Phillips; her sister-in-law, |
16 | | LaShonda (Mike) Phillips; her 23 nieces and nephews; and a |
17 | | host of cousins and friends; therefore, be it

18 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL |
19 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
20 | | Stacy Lynn Phillips and extend our sincere condolences to her |
21 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it |
