2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
3 | | to learn of the death of Charles "Toby" W. Stoudt of Orion, who |
4 | | passed away on August 1, 2021; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Toby Stoudt was born to Harry W. and Kate R. |
6 | | (Himmelburger) Stoudt in Leland on July 2, 1927; he married |
7 | | Leona Mae Swanson in Orion on January 8, 1952; he was a U.S. |
8 | | Army and Merchant Marines veteran who served in World War Two |
9 | | and the Korean War; and
|
10 | | WHEREAS, Toby Stoudt was the owner and operator of the |
11 | | Swanson Hardware Store in Orion; and
|
12 | | WHEREAS, Toby Stoudt was a former volunteer with the Orion |
13 | | Fire Department; and
|
14 | | WHEREAS, Toby Stoudt was a member of Orion American Legion |
15 | | Post 255; he was a founding and life member of Orion V.F.W. |
16 | | Post 143 where he previously served as the Post Advocate from |
17 | | 1973 1975 and former Post Junior Vice Commander; he also |
18 | | served on the honor guard with both the American Legion and |
19 | | VFW; he was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church; and
|
20 | | WHEREAS, Toby Stoudt enjoyed fishing, woodworking, and |
|

1 | | swapping lies with friends; and
|
2 | | WHEREAS, Toby Stoudt was preceded in death by his parents; |
3 | | his siblings, Amanda Stratton, Harriet Stoudt, Irma Williams, |
4 | | Kathryn Smith, Marguerite Chamberlain, Charlotte Claude, Annie |
5 | | Gunderson, John Stoudt, Frank Stoudt, Raymond Stoudt, and |
6 | | Harry Stoudt; and his granddaughter, Nichole Stoudt; and
|
7 | | WHEREAS, Toby Stoudt is survived by his wife; his |
8 | | children, Brian (Patricia) Stoudt, and Arlan (Jennifer Miller) |
9 | | Stoudt; his grandchildren, Ronald W. (Karen Mackey) Higbee II, |
10 | | Tonya (Christian) Remley, Kristina (Patric) Harris, Heidi |
11 | | (David) Cousins, and Amanda Stoudt; his 16 |
12 | | great-grandchildren; and his eight great-great-grandchildren; |
13 | | therefore, be it

14 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL |
15 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
16 | | Charles "Toby" W. Stoudt and extend our sincere condolences to |
17 | | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it |
18 | | further

19 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
20 | | presented to the family of Toby Stoudt as an expression of our |
21 | | deepest sympathy.
