SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of William "Doc" J. Irvine Jr. O.D. of Springfield, who passed away on July 14, 2021; and

WHEREAS, Bill Irvine was born to William J. Irvine Sr. O.D. and Margaret E. File Irvine in Quincy on May 17, 1942; he proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and Air National Guard with the 183rd medical squadron, retiring as a Lt. Colonel; he graduated from the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago; he married Robin M. Bloxam on April 27, 2001; and

WHEREAS, Bill Irvine's career as an optometrist spanned over 40 years; he started alongside his father in private practice in downtown Springfield and was most recently employed with Walmart Vision Center; and

WHEREAS, Bill Irvine loved golf and was a member of the Panther Creek Country Club for many years; he was an avid Chicago Cubs fan; and

WHEREAS, Bill Irvine was known for his generosity and kindness and for living a simple, humble life with his family and friends; and

WHEREAS, Bill Irvine was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Timothy Irvine; and his brother-in-law, John Barge; and

WHEREAS, Bill Irvine is survived by his wife, Robin M. Irvine; his sons, David Irvine and Tyler (Sommer) Irvine; his daughters, Lisa (Tripp) Tuttle and Amanda Allen; his grandchildren, Malayna and Jaylin Marx and Braden and Hank Tuttle; his sister, Patricia Barge; his nieces and nephews; his cousins; and his friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of William "Doc" "Bill" J. Irvine Jr. O.D. and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Bill Irvine as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
