SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened 
3to learn of the death of Robert L. "Bob" Dowdal Sr. of Colona, 
4who passed away on July 26, 2021; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Bob Dowdal was born in Moline to Leo and Clara 
6Lava Dowdal on November 20, 1926; he served in the U.S. Navy 
7during World War II; he also served in the U.S. Marine Corps 
8during the Korean Conflict; he married Lorraine Donaway in 
9Rock Island on August 15, 1946, and she preceded him in death 
10on September 26, 2016; and
  
 
11    WHEREAS, Bob Dowdal was a member of the Colona American 
12Legion and the Moline VFW; he was an active member of St. 
13Patrick's Catholic Church; he also enjoyed traveling, 
14especially through the mountains; and
  
 
15    WHEREAS, Bob Dowdal was preceded in death by his parents 
16and his wife; and
  
 
17    WHEREAS, Bob Dowdal is survived by his children, Debra L. 
18Von Maur, Robert L. (Stephanie) Dowdal Jr., and Mark L. (Mary) 
19Dowdal; his 11 grandchildren; his 16 great-grandchildren; and 
20his two great-great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

1    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL 
2ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of 
3Robert L. "Bob" Dowdal Sr. and extend our sincere condolences 
4to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be 
5it further
  
 
6    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
7presented to the family of Bob Dowdal as an expression of our 
8deepest sympathy.
