2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
3 | | to learn of the death of Jean Mary Glarner Ellzey, who passed |
4 | | away on October 5, 2020 at the age of 93; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Jean Ellzey was born on August 2, 1927 in St. |
6 | | Paul, Minnesota to Doris Harrison Glarner and Milo Jacob |
7 | | Glarner; and
|
8 | | WHEREAS, Jean Ellzey was raised in Texas and graduated |
9 | | from Southern Methodist University in 1948; shortly afterward, |
10 | | she became a children's music teacher; and
|
11 | | WHEREAS, Jean Ellzey married Charles Homer Ellzey in 1949; |
12 | | together, they had three children, Doris Jean, Christine, and |
13 | | David Charles; and
|
14 | | WHEREAS, Jean Ellzey relocated to Naperville with her |
15 | | family in 1971; she earned a graduate degree in counseling |
16 | | psychology at George Williams College; and
|
17 | | WHEREAS, Jean Ellzey worked as a teacher and counselor at |
18 | | Moraine Valley Community College in Palos Hills and DuPage |
19 | | Community College in Glen Ellyn for fifteen years; one of her |
20 | | favorite courses to teach was titled Women in Transition; and
|

1 | | WHEREAS, Jean Ellzey was a helper and a social justice |
2 | | advocate; and
|
3 | | WHEREAS, Jean Ellzey moved to Oak Park in 2000; she became |
4 | | a member of Unity Temple and performed in the choir; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Jean Ellzey was a gardener and nature enthusiast |
6 | | who loved to "soak in Vitamin D"; she enjoyed visits to the |
7 | | Morton Arboretum; and
|
8 | | WHEREAS, Jean Ellzey was preceded in death by her sister, |
9 | | Carolyn Swanberg; and
|
10 | | WHEREAS, Jean Ellzey is survived by her sister, Kathryn |
11 | | Hemeyer; her children, Dorie Blesoff (Marc), Christine Ione, |
12 | | and David Ellzey; her grandchildren, Jamine, Evan, and Mara |
13 | | Blesoff, Courtney Rile (Mike Barletta), and Devon Rile |
14 | | (Kristen Buchan); her great-granddaughters, Athina and Wrynn; |
15 | | her nephews and nieces, Lance Swanberg (Jamie), Cindy Schwing |
16 | | (Larry), Marshall Swanberg (Kathleen), Gary Hemeyer |
17 | | (Christina), Suzanne Hemeyer, and Bryan Hemeyer (Chelle); and |
18 | | many other loving nieces-in-law and nephews-in-law; therefore, |
