SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, Sandy Frick is retiring from the Waltonville
3Community Unit School District #1 Board of Education after
4serving 24 years, including 18 years as school board
5president; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Sandy Frick was born to Eva and Paul Allen in
7Bonnie; she has a sister, Debbie Smith, and a brother, Mike
8Allen; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Sandy Frick graduated from Waltonville High
10School in 1978 and was extremely active in FFA and athletics;
11and
 
12    WHEREAS, Sandy Frick married Marvin Frick, also a
13Waltonville High School graduate, on August 24, 2001; they
14have one son, Jacob, who graduated from Waltonville High
15School in 2020; and
 
16    WHEREAS, After graduating from high school, Sandy Frick
17accepted a position with the USDA Farm Service Agency where
18she has worked for over 42 years; she has held a number of
19positions with the Farm Service Agency over the years and
20today serves as the executive director of the USDA Jefferson
21County Farm Service Agency; and

1    WHEREAS, Not only has Sandy Frick's career included her
2position with the USDA but she has also assisted her husband
3with their family farm; a labor of love, she and her husband
4have worked in partnership to operate Frick Farms; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Sandy Frick has served on many school board
6committees over the years, including the Building and Finance
7Committee, the Policy Committee, and the Franklin Jefferson
8Special Education Committee; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Sandy Frick played an instrumental role in the
10renovation of the Waltonville High School gymnasium in 2014;
11she has also worked tirelessly to raise funds for many
12improvements in the district; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Sandy Frick has been an active member of the
14Waltonville FFA Alumni Association where she has served as the
15treasurer for many years; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Sandy Frick and key members of the Waltonville
17FFA Alumni Association established a scholarship program for
18the Waltonville FFA members; to fund this scholarship program,
19she formulated the Waltonville FFA Alumni Pork Chop Dinner and
20Raffle, which she has spearheaded for over 20 years; since its
21inception, this scholarship program has provided nearly a

1hundred thousand dollars in scholarships to Waltonville FFA
2seniors in pursuit of higher education; a testament to the
3impact that this program has had on the community is the number
4of former students and FFA members who return to Waltonville
5to assist with school and community functions; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Sandy Frick has also served as a member of
7Waltonville's Parent Teacher Organization; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Sandy Frick has been a strong supporter of
9Waltonville Spartan athletics and even served as the high
10school cheerleading sponsor; she also supported the formation
11of Waltonville High School's Illinois Youth and Government
12chapter and hosted fundraisers to support the chapter; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Sandy Frick has been committed to Waltonville
14Community Unit School District #1; her decades of hard work
15and dedication to the future generations of Illinois are
16something to be admired; she exemplifies what it means to be a
17Spartan; therefore, be it
 
18    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
19ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we declare April 22,
202021 as Sandy Frick Commemoration Day to acknowledge her
21career in public service as well as her work within her
22community and to wish her the best in retirement; and be it
