2 | | WHEREAS, Sandy Frick is retiring from the Waltonville |
3 | | Community Unit School District #1 Board of Education after |
4 | | serving 24 years, including 18 years as school board |
5 | | president; and
|
6 | | WHEREAS, Sandy Frick was born to Eva and Paul Allen in |
7 | | Bonnie; she has a sister, Debbie Smith, and a brother, Mike |
8 | | Allen; and
|
9 | | WHEREAS, Sandy Frick graduated from Waltonville High |
10 | | School in 1978 and was extremely active in FFA and athletics; |
11 | | and
|
12 | | WHEREAS, Sandy Frick married Marvin Frick, also a |
13 | | Waltonville High School graduate, on August 24, 2001; they |
14 | | have one son, Jacob, who graduated from Waltonville High |
15 | | School in 2020; and
|
16 | | WHEREAS, After graduating from high school, Sandy Frick |
17 | | accepted a position with the USDA Farm Service Agency where |
18 | | she has worked for over 42 years; she has held a number of |
19 | | positions with the Farm Service Agency over the years and |
20 | | today serves as the executive director of the USDA Jefferson |
21 | | County Farm Service Agency; and

1 | | WHEREAS, Not only has Sandy Frick's career included her |
2 | | position with the USDA but she has also assisted her husband |
3 | | with their family farm; a labor of love, she and her husband |
4 | | have worked in partnership to operate Frick Farms; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Sandy Frick has served on many school board |
6 | | committees over the years, including the Building and Finance |
7 | | Committee, the Policy Committee, and the Franklin Jefferson |
8 | | Special Education Committee; and
|
9 | | WHEREAS, Sandy Frick played an instrumental role in the |
10 | | renovation of the Waltonville High School gymnasium in 2014; |
11 | | she has also worked tirelessly to raise funds for many |
12 | | improvements in the district; and
|
13 | | WHEREAS, Sandy Frick has been an active member of the |
14 | | Waltonville FFA Alumni Association where she has served as the |
15 | | treasurer for many years; and
|
16 | | WHEREAS, Sandy Frick and key members of the Waltonville |
17 | | FFA Alumni Association established a scholarship program for |
18 | | the Waltonville FFA members; to fund this scholarship program, |
19 | | she formulated the Waltonville FFA Alumni Pork Chop Dinner and |
20 | | Raffle, which she has spearheaded for over 20 years; since its |
21 | | inception, this scholarship program has provided nearly a |

1 | | hundred thousand dollars in scholarships to Waltonville FFA |
2 | | seniors in pursuit of higher education; a testament to the |
3 | | impact that this program has had on the community is the number |
4 | | of former students and FFA members who return to Waltonville |
5 | | to assist with school and community functions; and
|
6 | | WHEREAS, Sandy Frick has also served as a member of |
7 | | Waltonville's Parent Teacher Organization; and
|
8 | | WHEREAS, Sandy Frick has been a strong supporter of |
9 | | Waltonville Spartan athletics and even served as the high |
10 | | school cheerleading sponsor; she also supported the formation |
11 | | of Waltonville High School's Illinois Youth and Government |
12 | | chapter and hosted fundraisers to support the chapter; and
|
13 | | WHEREAS, Sandy Frick has been committed to Waltonville |
14 | | Community Unit School District #1; her decades of hard work |
15 | | and dedication to the future generations of Illinois are |
16 | | something to be admired; she exemplifies what it means to be a |
17 | | Spartan; therefore, be it
|
18 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL |
19 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we declare April 22, |
20 | | 2021 as Sandy Frick Commemoration Day to acknowledge her |
21 | | career in public service as well as her work within her |
22 | | community and to wish her the best in retirement; and be it |
