SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of James H. "Jim" Brown of Milan, who
4passed away on March 14, 2021; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Jim Brown was born in Moline to Harry and Alice
6(Hoogerwerf) Brown on June 16, 1930; he graduated from
7Reynolds High School in 1947; he served in the U.S. Navy aboard
8the U.S.S. Snowden; he married Peggy Jo Irwin on March 1, 1952;
9and
 
10    WHEREAS, Jim Brown retired as director of Emergency
11Communications from the Illinois State Police in 1990 after 32
12years of service; he was also the owner of 2-Way Marine Radio
13in Milan; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Jim Brown loved being on the water and cruising
15aboard the Seahorse alongside his wife, and they enjoyed
16cruising the Mississippi River from Rock Island to the Florida
17Keys for 18 years; he was especially happy and proud when
18spending time together with his children, grandchildren, and
19great-grandchildren; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Jim Brown was preceded in death by his parents;
21his brother, Tom; and his grandson, Tom Brown; and

1    WHEREAS, Jim Brown is survived by his wife of 69 years,
2Peggy; his children, Michael (Teresa), Randy, Sheri (Jim
3Brokaw), and Tamara (Dennis Kellner); his grandchildren, Dr.
4Rhonda (Chad) Sowards, Matt Brown, Scott (Brooke) Zeitler,
5Jamie (Phil) Ledbetter, Drew (Jessie) Zeitler, Tony (Sarah)
6Brown, and Kendell (Lucas) DeWitt; and his
7great-grandchildren, Trace, Ava, Claire, Thomas, Randi Jo,
8Owen, Alice, Bennett, Maverick, Madelyn, Lane, Isabella,
9Rhett, and Baby girl DeWitt; therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
12James H. "Jim" Brown and extend our sincere condolences to his
13family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
14further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of Jim Brown as an expression of our
17deepest sympathy.
