2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
3 | to learn of the death of Ivan W. Miller of Hillsboro, who | ||||||
4 | passed away on February 4, 2021; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Ivan Miller was born to Albert and Rose | ||||||
6 | (Hueschen) Miller in Nokomis on January 31, 1925; he graduated | ||||||
7 | as salutatorian from Nokomis High School in 1942; he served as | ||||||
8 | a sergeant in the U.S. Army during the Korean War; while in the | ||||||
9 | Army, he earned his pilot's license; he married Ida Mae | ||||||
10 | Mondhink at the 1st United Presbyterian Church in Raymond on | ||||||
11 | March 16, 1954; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, In 1960, Ivan Miller started his career in the | ||||||
13 | purebred hog business; he was the first hog farm in Illinois to | ||||||
14 | raise Specific Pathogen Free (SPF) disease free hogs; during | ||||||
15 | his career, he won many awards at the state and national level; | ||||||
16 | in 1980, he was selected as a National Duroc Association Who's | ||||||
17 | Who honoree; in 2005, he received the Illinois Purebred Swine | ||||||
18 | Council Award; in 2013, he was inducted into the Land of | ||||||
19 | Lincoln Purebred Livestock Association Hall of Fame; he was | ||||||
20 | well known in his business throughout the world; and
| ||||||
21 | WHEREAS, Ivan Miller belonged to several organizations at | ||||||
22 | the local, county, and state level and served in leadership |

1 | roles in many of them; in 1963, he helped organize the | ||||||
2 | Montgomery County Pork Producers Association and the Illinois | ||||||
3 | Swine Repopulation Association; and
| ||||||
4 | WHEREAS, Ivan Miller was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran | ||||||
5 | Church in Hillsboro and a past member of the Hillsboro Moose | ||||||
6 | Club; and | ||||||
7 | WHEREAS, In his younger years, Ivan Miller enjoyed flying | ||||||
8 | his Piper Arrow airplane and loved ballroom dancing with his | ||||||
9 | wife; he adored his grandchildren and especially loved | ||||||
10 | watching them play sports; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Ivan Miller was preceded in death by his parents | ||||||
12 | and one son, Robert "Bob" Miller; and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, Ivan Miller is survived by his wife; his | ||||||
14 | daughter, Linda (Dan) Bilyeu; his son, James Miller; his three | ||||||
15 | grandchildren, Jenna Springer, Brett Bilyeu, and Brittany | ||||||
16 | Bilyeu; his two great-grandchildren, Brockton and Bryce | ||||||
17 | Springer; and his two sisters, Donna Roach and Irma | ||||||
18 | Waddington; therefore, be it

19 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL | ||||||
20 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
21 | Ivan W. Miller and extend our sincere condolences to his |

1 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
2 | further

3 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
