SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, On January 1, 2016, Silver Search legislation was
3passed by the Illinois General Assembly; and
 
4    WHEREAS, The Silver Search Task Force was created to bring
5agencies and organizations together with the common goal of
6creating a Silver Search program and toolkit to assist in
7missing person cases involving those with Alzheimer's or
8dementia; and
 
9    WHEREAS, The Silver Search program brings to light the
10increasing incidence of people with Alzheimer's or dementia
11that get lost and the ways in which the public can help law
12enforcement return them home safely; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Silver Search utilizes an Endangered Missing
14Person Advisory when a person with Alzheimer's or dementia
15goes missing; the purpose of the advisory is to get as many
16eyes looking for a missing person as possible; emails, faxes,
17radio and television broadcasts, text messages, and law
18enforcement bulletins are all means to disseminate the
19information about a missing person; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Because of the partnership with the Illinois
21Department of Transportation and the Illinois Tollway

1Authority, the dynamic message signs on the interstates and
2tollways can now be utilized during advisories when a person
3is missing while driving a vehicle; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Of the 121 Silver Alerts that have been issued
5since the creation of the Silver Search program, all but one
6person has been found; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we urge county
9authorities throughout the State to utilize the Silver Search
10program more frequently.
