SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of George D. Ginder of New City, who
4passed away on January 22, 2020; and
 
5    WHEREAS, George Ginder was born in Springfield to Mary
6Ruth (Matthew) and Lloyd David Ginder on November 26, 1944; he
7graduated from Glenwood High School in Chatham in 1962 and
8earned a bachelor's degree from Illinois State University in
91966; he married Cheryl Elizabeth Koerper at St. John's
10Lutheran Church in Mendota on July 17, 1966 and earned a
11master's degree from the University of Illinois in 1970; and
 
12    WHEREAS, George Ginder taught vocational agriculture from
131966 to 1969 at Arming, Minier, and McLean High Schools; he
14then returned to the New City area to teach science at Glenwood
15Junior High School from 1969 to 1994 and farm with his family;
16he enjoyed raising Black Angus Cattle; and
 
17    WHEREAS, George Ginder was a member of Good Shepherd
18Lutheran Church in Rochester, where he served on various
19boards and in numerous roles, including as congregation
20president, elder, and Sunday school teacher; his family and
21grandchildren were central to his life, as were his friends
22who met regularly in "Butch's Basement", where all were

1welcome and no one was a stranger; he watched a multitude of
2games when his sons played baseball and put aside his fear of
3flying to visit his daughter in Puerto Rico; after retiring
4from teaching, he and Cheryl enjoyed day trips with friends;
5he was an avid fan of Illini Basketball and the Indianapolis
6Colts; and
 
7    WHEREAS, George Ginder was preceded in death by his
8parents; and
 
9    WHEREAS, George Ginder is survived by his wife, Cheryl;
10his sons, David, Matthew (Jill), and Steven (Corinne); his
11daughter, Ruth (Scott); 15 grandchildren; his sister, Alice
12(Allen); seven cousins; and four nieces and nephews;
13therefore, be it
 
14    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
15ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
16George D. Ginder and extend our sincere condolences to his
17family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
18further
 
19    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20presented to the family of George Ginder as an expression of
21our deepest sympathy.
