SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of William D. "Bill" Hynd of Rock Island,
4who passed away on December 25, 2020; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Bill Hynd was born in Moline to William Jr. and
6Marguerite (Peterson) Hynd on September 10, 1933; he graduated
7from United Township High School in 1951 and completed his
8toolmaker apprenticeship at Reynolds Engineering in Rock
9Island in 1955; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Bill Hynd joined the U.S. Navy and served on the
11destroyer-tender USS Frontier in the Pacific; he completed
12active duty in 1957 and married Mary Ellen Blondeel in
13Sheffield on August 2, 1958; he served in the U.S. Navy Reserve
14until 1962; upon his release from active duty, he rejoined
15Reynolds Engineering as a toolmaker until his retirement in
161998; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Bill Hynd enjoyed riding his bicycle along the
18river, recycling for the residents of Summit Ridge, and
19watching his only local grandson, Alex, play sports; he was
20especially pleased to attend the graduation of his godson
21Nathan Moss from Marine Boot Camp at Parris Island, South
22Carolina and was proud that Nathan later served as a Navy

1Medical Officer at the Yokosuka Naval Station in Japan where
2Bill had served years earlier; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Bill Hynd was preceded in death by his
4son-in-law, Anthony Scott; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Bill Hynd is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen;
6his daughters, Theresa (Glen) Moss, Mary (Cliff) Schrock,
7Eileen (John) Saksa, Patricia Scott, Karen (Dan) Fitzgerald,
8and Janet (Rory) Gibson; ten grandchildren; nine
9great-grandchildren; and his siblings, Betty (Bob)
10VanDeVoorde, Sister Mary Louise Hynd O.S.F., and Barbara
11(Richard) Carlson; therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
13ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
14William D. "Bill" Hynd and extend our sincere condolences to
15his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
16further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to the family of Bill Hynd as an expression of our
19deepest sympathy.
