SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, Grace Schell was a 15 year old high school
3student athlete from Liberty; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Grace Schell tragically passed away in an ATV
5accident on October 4, 2020; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Grace Schell's hobbies included sports, dancing,
7hunting, fishing, and meeting new people; she always had a
8smile on her face and was full of compassion and joy; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Grace Schell loved her family, her friends, and
10her boyfriend; she loved to help anyone in need by encouraging
11them, inspiring them, or praying for them; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Grace Schell was deeply committed to her faith,
13and her life was a reflection of love; her brief life taught
14many people to be the best version of themselves, to be kind,
15to be generous, to be willing to go the extra mile for someone,
16to respect and love their neighbors, to smile, to laugh, and to
17care about those around them; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Grace Schell's parents and family are devastated
19by her passing; her parents are certain that because of her
20death many people have been inspired to live their lives

1differently by following her example; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Grace Schell's life and early death inspired the
3#BeLikeGrace movement; this movement encourages people to
4extend grace and kindness to all in the situations of daily
5life; and
 
6    WHEREAS, The #BeLikeGrace movement has made its way across
7the United States and to three different countries; therefore,
8be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we declare October 4,
112021 as #BeLikeGrace Day in order to commemorate the one year
12anniversary of Grace Schell's death and the ongoing impact of
13her life; and be it further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Grace Schell as a symbol of our
16respect for her legacy of kindness.
