SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 52
2
(As Amended by Senate Amendment No. 1)

  
 
3    WHEREAS, The State Board of Education has filed its Report

4on Waivers of School Code Mandates, dated January 28, 2022,

5with the House of Representatives, the Senate, and the

6Secretary of State of Illinois as required by Section 2-3.25g

7of the School Code; and
  
 
8    WHEREAS, The General Assembly finds that these requests 
9have
not been conducted with the most appropriate procedure 
10for
district-wide financial changes that have far reaching 
11impacts on
 local communities; and
  
 
12    WHEREAS, The General Assembly finds that school finance 
13changes
should be handled in a consistent manner in 
14consultation with ISBE, which
shall provide recommendations on 
15the best procedure to ensure changes
to these requirements in 
16the future are given the necessary scrutiny to
ensure the best 
17outcomes for school districts and communities; and
  
 

  
18    WHEREAS, The General Assembly will assess this issue 
19thoroughly
and address the underlying issues to ensure
that 
20the waiver process is used for its intended purpose; 
21therefore, be it

1    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL 
2ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE HOUSE OF 
3REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING HEREIN, that the waiver request 
4made by Indian Prairie Unit School District #204, identified 
5in the report filed by the State Board of Education as request 
6M-300-6892, is approved; and be it further
  
 
7    RESOLVED, That the waiver request made by Naperville Unit 
8School
District #203, identified in the report filed by the 
9State Board of
Education as request M-300-6897, is approved; 
10and be it further
 
11    RESOLVED, That this resolution adopted by the General 
12Assembly in whole or in part shall be binding on the Illinois 
13State Board of Education.
