Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code. Provides that the standard registration fee for electric vehicles shall be waived for any vehicle owner who is a volunteer firefighter or emergency services personnel. Provides that the new provisions do not apply to the fee set forth for electric vehicles.

1 | | AN ACT concerning transportation.
|
2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
4 | | Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by adding |
5 | | Section 3-806.75 as follows: |
6 | | (625 ILCS 5/3-806.75 new) |
7 | | Sec. 3-806.75. Registration fees for volunteer firemen and |
8 | | emergency medical services personnel. |
9 | | (a) Beginning with the first registration year commencing |
10 | | after the effective date of this amendatory Act of the 102nd |
11 | | General Assembly, the standard registration fee set forth in |
12 | | Section 3-806 for passenger motor vehicles of the first |
13 | | division and motor vehicles of the second division weighing |
14 | | not more than 8,000 pounds and registered under Section 3-815 |
15 | | shall be waived for any Illinois vehicle owner who is a |
16 | | volunteer firefighter or emergency medical services personnel. |
17 | | (b) This Section does not apply to the fee set forth in |
18 | | Section 3-805 for electric vehicles.
