HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to commend their colleague, David Allen
4Welter, on the occasion of his retirement as State
5Representative of the 75th District; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Rep. Welter was appointed as a state
7representative in July 2016, serving portions of Grundy,
8Kendall, LaSalle, and Will Counties and was subsequently
9elected to a full term in November 2016 and re-elected in 2018
10and 2020; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Rep. Welter was appointed to the position of
12Republican Conference Chairperson in 2021 at age 29, joining
13Rep. Avery Bourne of Morrisonville as the youngest members of
14the House GOP leadership team; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Rep. Welter serves as the Republican spokesperson
16on the Energy & Environment Committee and the Health Care
17Availability & Accessibility Committee, in addition to serving
18on the Public Utilities Committee, Judiciary – Civil
19Committee, and the Appropriations-Public Safety Committee; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Rep. Welter's most notable legislative
21achievements include the passage of "Colton's Task Force" in

12021 to combat domestic violence in the State of Illinois and
2improve prevention and treatment services for victims,
3survivors, and their families and the passage of a
4comprehensive energy bill in 2021 that keeps Illinois' entire
5nuclear fleet online and protects local jobs at the Dresden
6Station; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Rep. Welter has been honored with the ACTIVATOR
8(Friend of Agriculture) Award from the Illinois Farm Bureau
9and the Friend of Infrastructure Award from the Transportation
10for Illinois Coalition; and
 
11    WHEREAS, In 2018, Rep. Welter received, from the members
12of St. Juvin Post 1336 Veterans of Foreign Wars in Coal City,
13an award for meritorious and distinguished service in
14furthering the aims and ideals of the VFW; and
 
15    WHEREAS, In 2019, Rep. Welter received the Friend of 4-H
16Award from the Grundy 4-H Club in recognition of his steadfast
17support of 4-H and its youth development programs; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Prior to his appointment to the Illinois General
19Assembly, Rep. Welter served as Chairman of the Grundy County
20Board from 2014-2016, having first been elected to the board
21in 2010 at the age of 19; and

1    WHEREAS, Prior to becoming Grundy County Board Chairman,
2Rep. Welter worked as a legislative aide to State
3Representative Pam Roth and State Senator Sue Rezin; and
 
4    WHEREAS, In the private sector, Rep. Welter worked as the
5Human Resources & Procurement Manager for a local trucking and
6construction equipment company and is currently the co-owner
7with his wife, Ashley, of RE/MAX Top Properties in Morris,
8where he is also an active real estate agent; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Rep. Welter resides in his hometown of Morris
10with his wife, Ashley, and their three young children, Autumn,
11David Jr., and April; therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
13HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
14we congratulate State Representative David Allen Welter on
15making a positive difference in the lives of the people he
16represented in the 75th District and across Illinois and wish
17him all the best in his future endeavors; and be it further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to Rep. Welter as a symbol of our esteem and respect
20for our colleague and friend.
