| 1 | HOUSE RESOLUTION

| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to honor our dedicated colleague, | ||||||
| 4 | Representative Denyse Wang Stoneback, and thank her for her | ||||||
| 5 | service to the State and her community; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Rep. Stoneback was born and raised in Skokie, and | ||||||
| 7 | she graduated from Niles North High School; she later earned | ||||||
| 8 | her bachelor's degree in Criminology, Law Studies, and Spanish | ||||||
| 9 | from Marquette University and a master's degree from the | ||||||
| 10 | University of Madrid; and | ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, Prior to serving in the General Assembly, Rep. | ||||||
| 12 | Stoneback taught English and translation; she also worked as a | ||||||
| 13 | writer, editor, and project manager in the field of | ||||||
| 14 | educational publishing for years; and
| ||||||
| 15 | WHEREAS, Rep. Stoneback is a community leader and | ||||||
| 16 | trailblazer; after the deadly Sandy Hook Elementary School | ||||||
| 17 | shooting, she founded the nonprofit organization People for a | ||||||
| 18 | Safer Society, which aims to educate people and raise | ||||||
| 19 | awareness on gun violence; and
| ||||||
| 20 | WHEREAS, Since joining the General Assembly, Rep. | ||||||
| 21 | Stoneback has passionately addressed issues that are important | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | to the 16th District; she championed legislation that protects | ||||||
| 2 | victims of domestic violence and promotes awareness of firearm | ||||||
| 3 | restraining orders and increases training on their | ||||||
| 4 | implementation; she also helped pass legislation to increase | ||||||
| 5 | student access to mental health resources; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Rep. Stoneback served on numerous committees, | ||||||
| 7 | working groups, and task forces that were pivotal to the | ||||||
| 8 | progress of Illinois; she co-founded the Gun Violence | ||||||
| 9 | Prevention Caucus to advocate for legislation that would | ||||||
| 10 | protect all Illinoisans; and
| ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, Rep. Stoneback is an example of perseverance, | ||||||
| 12 | resilience, and dedication to the service of her constituents; | ||||||
| 13 | therefore, be it

| 14 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
| 15 | HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 16 | we congratulate Representative Denyse Wang Stoneback on her | ||||||
| 17 | accomplishments, thank her for her service, and wish her all | ||||||
| 18 | the best in her future endeavors; and be it further
| ||||||
| 19 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 20 | presented to Rep. Stoneback as an expression of our respect | ||||||
| 21 | and esteem.
