2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives wish to honor the dedicated service of | ||||||
4 | Representative Deborah "Deb" Conroy to the State and the | ||||||
5 | residents of the 46th District, including Addison, | ||||||
6 | Bloomingdale, Carol Stream, Elmhurst, Glendale Heights, | ||||||
7 | Oakbrook Terrace, Lombard, Glen Ellyn, and Villa Park; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, Born in Elmhurst, Rep. Conroy has been a lifelong | ||||||
9 | resident and advocate for DuPage County; there, she raised her | ||||||
10 | family as a devoted mom to four sons, Sean, Ryan, Brendan, and | ||||||
11 | Will; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Prior to joining the General Assembly, Rep. | ||||||
13 | Conroy was a leader in her community, serving on the boards of | ||||||
14 | Elmhurst Community Unit School District 205 and the Elmhurst | ||||||
15 | Children's Assistance Foundation; and
| ||||||
16 | WHEREAS, Rep. Conroy has been a strong advocate for her | ||||||
17 | hometown of Elmhurst, working to pass progressive mental | ||||||
18 | health and health care initiatives; and
| ||||||
19 | WHEREAS, Throughout her time in Springfield, Rep. Conroy | ||||||
20 | has been a tireless advocate for mental health and wellness; | ||||||
21 | she oversaw the passage of monumental legislation while |

| |||||||
1 | serving as chairperson of the Mental Health & Addiction | ||||||
2 | Committee; and
| ||||||
3 | WHEREAS, During the COVID-19 pandemic, Rep. Conroy's | ||||||
4 | efforts led to the permanent establishment of the Call4Calm | ||||||
5 | support text line; additionally, she led the fight to | ||||||
6 | establish the statewide 9-8-8 mental health hotline and many | ||||||
7 | other resources to help Illinoisans cope with mental health | ||||||
8 | issues; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Rep. Conroy paved the way for living donors in | ||||||
10 | Illinois by passing legislation to increase protections for | ||||||
11 | those who choose to donate; in 2018, she led by example and | ||||||
12 | saved her former husband's life through the selfless act of | ||||||
13 | donating her kidney as his living donor; and
| ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, Rep. Conroy prioritized increasing women's | ||||||
15 | representation, serving as chair of Illinois House Democratic | ||||||
16 | Women's Caucus; she also worked to pass fair pay legislation, | ||||||
17 | the Reproductive Health Act, and other initiatives to protect | ||||||
18 | choice in Illinois; and

19 | WHEREAS, Rep. Conroy was appointed to the newly-created | ||||||
20 | post of Women's Caucus Whip on Speaker Emanuel "Chris" Welch's | ||||||
21 | leadership team in 2021, where she worked to bring attention | ||||||
22 | to the priorities of the Women's Caucus; and

1 | WHEREAS, Rep. Conroy made history as the first woman to be | ||||||
2 | elected to serve as chair of the DuPage County Board in 2021; | ||||||
3 | therefore, be it
| ||||||
4 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
5 | HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
6 | we congratulate Representative Deborah "Deb" Conroy on her | ||||||
7 | retirement from the Illinois House of Representatives, offer | ||||||
8 | her sincere gratitude for her 10 years of dedicated service to | ||||||
9 | the people of Illinois, and wish her luck as chair of the | ||||||
10 | DuPage County Board; and be it further

11 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
12 | presented to Rep. Conroy as an expression of our esteem and | ||||||
13 | respect.
