2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
3 | | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Gary J. |
4 | | LaPaille of Potomac, Maryland, who passed away on December 1, |
5 | | 2022; and
|
6 | | WHEREAS, Gary LaPaille was born and raised in Chicago; and
|
7 | | WHEREAS, Gary LaPaille served as chairman of the Illinois |
8 | | Democratic Party from 1990 to 1998; during his tenure, he was |
9 | | elected president of the Association of State Democratic |
10 | | Chairs and served as vice chairman of the Democratic National |
11 | | Committee; he also served a term in the Illinois Senate from |
12 | | 1993 to 1995; he started his career in politics working in |
13 | | various staff positions for former Illinois House Speaker |
14 | | Michael J. Madigan and was his chief of staff for 12 years |
15 | | prior to entering elected politics; he began his career as a |
16 | | lobbyist after leaving the Illinois Senate and founded Capitol |
17 | | Management Group in 1995, which was acquired by MWH Global in |
18 | | 1999; he moved to Washington, DC to operate his company as a |
19 | | subsidiary and served as senior vice president for government |
20 | | affairs until 2016; and

21 | | WHEREAS, Gary LaPaille was a senior advisor at Dentons law |
22 | | firm following his long career in government and politics; and |
