HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Walter
4Arnold Jones Sr.; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Walter Jones was born to Mary Louise and Russell
6Donald Jones Jr. on November 7, 1952; he was a native of Morgan
7Park; he first attended school at Holy Name of Mary Catholic
8Church, which was founded by his grandmother, Grace Agnes
9Spillman, other relatives, and their Morgan Park neighbors; he
10then attended Saint Dorothy's Catholic School and Leo Catholic
11School before graduating from Morgan Park High School in 1970;
12he earned his Psychology degree from Chicago State University;
13he married Lesa in 2001, and they both brought two children
14into their union and continued building their family together;
15and
 
16    WHEREAS, Walter Jones worked at UPS and Sherwin Williams
17before beginning his career at the YMCA of Metropolitan
18Chicago; after retiring from the YMCA, he managed the dock of
19300 North LaSalle; he also owned his own renovation company;
20and
 
21    WHEREAS, Walter Jones was a novelist and published his
22novel Blue: A Story of Extraordinary Courage in 2014; and

1    WHEREAS, Walter Jones was a remarkable musician with a
2great voice, a gift for the guitar, and a penchant for
3songwriting; he was a builder who loved using his hands to add
4character to his home and others; he was also an artist who
5used any medium available; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Walter Jones will be remembered for his strong
7work ethic, integrity, honor, and love; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Walter Jones was preceded in death by his
9parents; his brother, Russell Donald Jones III; and his son,
10Walter Arnold Jones Jr.; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Walter Jones is survived by his wife; his
12children, Nicole, Jason, Kenneth, Adena, Eteria, and Marcus;
13his many grandchildren; his brothers, Kenneth and Gerald; his
14sisters, Rebecca (John) and Dorothy; his extended family; and
15his many friends; therefore, be it
 
16    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
17HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
18we mourn the passing of Walter Arnold Jones Sr. and extend our
19sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew
20and loved him; and be it further
