| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
| ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to congratulate student athlete Nicole | ||||||
| 4 | Johnson of Edwardsville
High School on the occasion her | ||||||
| 5 | amazing
performance and championship victory at the 2022
| ||||||
| 6 | Illinois High School Association (IHSA) Class 2A Girls Golf | ||||||
| 7 | State Final Tournament; and
| ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, Nicole Johnson set her sights on the championship | ||||||
| 9 | early after committing herself to the hard work and dedication | ||||||
| 10 | that is
necessary for high levels of success after a twelfth
| ||||||
| 11 | place finish in the 2021 state tournament last fall; and
| ||||||
| 12 | WHEREAS, Nicole Johnson's performance at the state | ||||||
| 13 | tournament was
preceded by wins at both the Class 3A | ||||||
| 14 | Collinsville Regional
tournament and the Class 3A O'Fallon | ||||||
| 15 | Sectional tournament; her state tournament victory capped off | ||||||
| 16 | 22 collective career wins with 11 having been won
this season; | ||||||
| 17 | and
| ||||||
| 18 | WHEREAS, Nicole Johnson played incredible matches | ||||||
| 19 | throughout the
state tournament; on the first day of the | ||||||
| 20 | tournament, she finished
the day at 2-under 70 and followed | ||||||
| 21 | that up with a bogey-free
4-under 68 round on day two; this | ||||||
| 22 | resulted in a final score of
6-under 138 and secured her a | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | four-stroke victory; and
| ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, Nicole Johnson's overall score is the fourth | ||||||
| 3 | lowest for an Illinois state
champion, while her second round | ||||||
| 4 | score of 4-under 68 was the
second lowest round in Class 2A | ||||||
| 5 | tournament history; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Nicole Johnson is the first large-school golfer | ||||||
| 7 | to win their regional, sectional, and state tournaments in the
| ||||||
| 8 | same post-season since 2018; and
| ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, Nicole Johnson is the twelfth state
medalist of | ||||||
| 10 | the girls golf program at Edwardsville High School and the | ||||||
| 11 | first champion in program history; she is also
only the second | ||||||
| 12 | Edwardsville golfer to win a state tournament; therefore, be | ||||||
| 13 | it | ||||||
| 14 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
| 15 | HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 16 | we congratulate Nicole Johnson on her championship victory at | ||||||
| 17 | the 2022
Illinois High School Association (IHSA) Class 2A | ||||||
| 18 | Girls Golf State Final Tournament, and we wish her continued | ||||||
| 19 | success in the future; and be it further

| 20 | RESOLVED, That we congratulate Nicole Johnson's coaches, | ||||||
