| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to congratulate the 2022 Mount Carmel | ||||||
| 4 | High School girls golf team, the Lady Aces, on winning the 2022 | ||||||
| 5 | IHSA Class 1A Girls Golf State Championship; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, The Lady Aces won the two day tournament, held at | ||||||
| 7 | Red Tail Run in Decatur, with a team score of 600, beating | ||||||
| 8 | second place Boylan Catholic High School by 35 strokes; and
| ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, The Lady Aces set the IHSA State Record for Class | ||||||
| 10 | 1A Girls Golf Teams with a team score of 600, breaking their | ||||||
| 11 | own record from the previous year of 604; and
| ||||||
| 12 | WHEREAS, The Lady Aces had a 2022 season record of 69-0; | ||||||
| 13 | the team won back to back championships in 2021 and 2022 with | ||||||
| 14 | two perfect seasons and a combined record of 147-0; and
| ||||||
| 15 | WHEREAS, The Lady Aces team roster includes Emily Gottman, | ||||||
| 16 | Lillian Gottman, Maria Kennard, Miley Kennard, Zeme Moore, | ||||||
| 17 | Alexis Wymer, and Madelyn Young; the team is led by Head Coach | ||||||
| 18 | Karin Kelsey and Assistant Coach Abbey Leighty; and
| ||||||
| 19 | WHEREAS, The Lady Aces team also has the 2022 IHSA Class 1A | ||||||
| 20 | Individual Champion, Madelyn Young, with a two day score of | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | 137, beating Ella Greenberg from Boylan Catholic High School | ||||||
| 2 | by four strokes with an amazing -7; she also won the 2022 Class | ||||||
| 3 | 1A Individual Championship in the Pinckneyville Regional and | ||||||
| 4 | Salem Sectional; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, The Lady Aces team participated in the PGA High | ||||||
| 6 | School Golf National Invitational, a prestigious, invite-only | ||||||
| 7 | tournament comprised of the top high school golfers from | ||||||
| 8 | across the country, in Pinehurst, North Carolina in June 2022; | ||||||
| 9 | the team proudly represented the State of Illinois, placing | ||||||
| 10 | eighth in the nation; and
| ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, The Lady Aces team was established by Mount | ||||||
| 12 | Carmel High School under Coach Karin Kelsey in the Fall of | ||||||
| 13 | 2008; since that time, the team has been named regional | ||||||
| 14 | champion eight times, sectional champion four times, state | ||||||
| 15 | champion two times, and state runner-up once; and
| ||||||
| 16 | WHEREAS, Under Coach Kelsey's guidance, the Lady Aces team | ||||||
| 17 | has participated in 10 state tournaments with both individuals | ||||||
| 18 | and teams during the past 15 years; there have been several | ||||||
| 19 | great golfers on the team in previous years, but this year's | ||||||
| 20 | team was by far the most talented in school history; | ||||||
| 21 | therefore, be it

| 22 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||

| 1 | HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 2 | we congratulate the 2022 Mount Carmel High School girls golf | ||||||
| 3 | team, the Lady Aces, on winning the 2022 Class 1A State | ||||||
| 4 | Championship; and be it further
| ||||||
| 5 | RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be | ||||||
| 6 | presented to the team members and coaches of the Lady Aces, | ||||||
| 7 | Superintendent Dr. Chuck Bleyer of the Wabash Community Unit | ||||||
| 8 | School District #348, and Principal Andrew Shelby of Mount | ||||||
| 9 | Carmel High School as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
