HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate Debra Ward-Mitchell on 
4the occasion of being named by the  National Education 
5Association as the Education Support Professional of the Year 
6for 2022; and
  
 
7    WHEREAS, Debra Ward-Mitchell is a strong advocate for 
8Education Support Professionals, ensuring that they know their 
9value and worth and that the rest of the community recognizes 
10their contributions; and
  
 
11    WHEREAS, Debra Ward-Mitchell has served Thornton Township 
12High School District 205 for 38 years; and
  
 
13    WHEREAS, Debra Ward-Mitchell has worked as a paraeducator 
14in Thornton Township High School District 205 for 20 years, 
15serving students with behavioral disorders and helping them 
16succeed; and
  
 
17    WHEREAS, Debra Ward-Mitchell has worked tirelessly to keep 
18vulnerable students on track for graduation; and
  
 
19    WHEREAS, Debra Ward-Mitchell is an assistant director at 
20the Infant Care Center in District 205, where she provides

1services for teen parents; and
  
 
2    WHEREAS, Debra Ward-Mitchell is an outstanding union 
3member, a passionate student advocate, and a powerful voice 
4for Education Support Professionals; therefore, be it
  
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
6HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
7we congratulate Debra Ward-Mitchell on being named the 2022 
8Education Support Professional of the Year by the National 
9Education Association, and we wish her many years of continued 
10advocacy and service; and be it further
  
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
12presented to Debra Ward-Mitchell as an expression of our 
13esteem and respect.
