HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Cleve
4Klopfenstein, who passed away on July 23, 2022; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Cleve Klopfenstein was born to Ralph and
6Catherine (Slagell) Klopfenstein on May 19, 1947; he graduated
7from Gridley High School and Illinois State University; he
8served in the U.S. Army, where he received basic training at
9Fort Sam Houston, Texas before serving in Vietnam; he married
10Kathleen Steffen in Fairbury on August 13, 1972; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Cleve Klopfenstein began his career as a high
12school teacher at Peoria Central High School before working in
13commodities trading at Heinold Commodities; he returned to
14teaching at the Peoria Alternative High School, retiring in
152005; over the course of his career, he made significant
16contributions to the growth and development of countless
17students; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Cleve Klopfenstein was deeply committed to his
19faith and a long-time, active member of his local church; he
20had a willing heart for serving his community, Christian
21ministry organizations, and his church; and

1    WHEREAS, Cleve Klopfenstein had a contagious enthusiasm
2for life and enjoyed many hobbies, including hosting friends
3and family at his beloved lake cabin, fishing, photography,
4documenting memories, traveling, antique cars and scooters,
5arrowhead hunting, and telling stories and jokes; his three
6grandsons were his pride and joy; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Cleve Klopfenstein was quick to offer a kind word
8to every person who crossed his path; he will be remembered for
9his strength of character, easy-going and gentle spirit,
10positive attitude, sense of humor, wisdom, and undying love
11for his family and friends; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Cleve Klopfenstein was preceded in death by his
13parents; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Cleve Klopfenstein is survived by his wife,
15Kathleen Klopfenstein; his children, Crystal (Jay) Wettstein
16and Aaron (Kara) Klopfenstein; his grandsons, Caleb, Carter,
17and Cooper Klopfenstein; his brothers, Marty Klopfenstein,
18Stan Klopfenstein, and David Klopfenstein; his sisters, Gloria
19Volk, Judy (Dave) Knobloch, and Cathy (Tim) Hohulin; and his
20many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
21    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
22HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that

1we mourn the passing of Cleve Klopfenstein and extend our
2sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew
3and loved him; and be it further
 
4    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
5presented to the family of Cleve Klopfenstein as an expression
6of our deepest sympathy.
