2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
3 | | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Thomas |
4 | | E. "Tom" Sanders of Spring Grove, who passed away on July 1, |
5 | | 2022; and
|
6 | | WHEREAS, Tom Sanders was born to George and Maxine (Bolt) |
7 | | Sanders in Woodstock on March 22, 1953; he graduated from |
8 | | Richmond-Burton
High School in 1971; he married Mary |
9 | | Clettenberg at St.
Matthew Lutheran Church in Lake Zurich
on |
10 | | June 4, 1977; and
|
11 | | WHEREAS, Tom Sanders began his career in law enforcement |
12 | | at the McHenry County
Sheriff's Department in 1978, retiring |
13 | | as a sergeant;
he served as the chief of police of Spring Grove |
14 | | from 2007 until his retirement in 2021; and
|
15 | | WHEREAS, Tom Sanders devoted much of his life towards |
16 | | serving his community, acting as a village trustee from 1992 |
17 | | until 2005 and as village president from 2005 until 2007; he
|
18 | | also served as a volunteer firefighter; and
|
19 | | WHEREAS, Tom Sanders founded and served as president
of |
20 | | the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 118, organizing the |
21 | | group's yearly
fundraising golf outing for more than 20 years; |

2 | | WHEREAS, Tom
Sanders was known for his quick wit and being |
3 | | a true family man who loved spending time with his family; and
|
4 | | WHEREAS, Tom Sanders was preceded in death by his parents; |
5 | | his sisters, Sandra Londberg and Georgie Gritzuk; and his
|
6 | | brother, Bob Sanders; and
|
7 | | WHEREAS, Tom Sanders is survived by his wife of 45 years, |
8 | | Mary; his children, Ehren, Kiel (Laura), and Ashley
Sanders; |
9 | | his grandchildren, Lilly, Ava, Mia, and Zoe; his brother, Mike |
10 | | (the late Cheryl)
Sanders; his sister-in-law, Donna Sanders; |
11 | | and his many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
|
12 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE |
13 | | HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
14 | | we mourn the passing of Thomas E. "Tom" Sanders and extend our |
15 | | sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew |
16 | | and loved him; and be it further
