HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Tancene
4B. "Tan" Craig Alexander, who passed away on May 29, 2022; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Tan Alexander was born to Clarence and Vermell
6Craig in Queens, New York on June 13, 1946; she attended New
7York Public Schools and graduated from Flushing High School in
81965; she married Richard on October 13, 1967, and they had one
9daughter, Tawny; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Tan Alexander worked for the Alberto-Culver
11Company before starting her more than 20-year career at the
12McDonald's Corporation; during her tenure, she took classes at
13Triton College to develop her skills, met many dear friends,
14and earned several awards, including the President's Award for
15her efficiency and dedication for a job well done; she retired
16in 1996; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Tan Alexander enjoyed helping others; she
18volunteered at the Chicago Food Depository and also worked
19with those in need at the family shelter sponsored by the
20Precious Blood Ministry of Reconciliation on the west side of
21Chicago; and

1    WHEREAS, Tan Alexander was known for being a planner and
2for always being prepared, regardless of the occasion or
3situation; she enjoyed listening to music and attending jazz
4concerts, especially Latin concerts; she liked watching
5science fiction and scary movies, enjoying the more ridiculous
6films most of all; she loved spending time with her family and
7her sister Carol at her favorite place, Myrtle Beach; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Tan Alexander was preceded in death by her
9parents and two of her siblings, Jodie and Clarence Jr.; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Tan Alexander is survived by her husband of 54
11years, Richard; her daughter, Tawny Smith; her grandson,
12Jaylen Smith; Richard's son, Scott (Princilla), and
13grandchildren, Quinton, Akiya, and Stephyn; her sisters, Carol
14(the late Tony) and Pamela; her brother, Cameron; her
15brothers-in-law, Jimmie (Lou) and Rickey; her sisters-in-law,
16Joan (the late Clarence), Carol Jean, and Debra (Eric); her
17special granddaughter, Brittany Qahhaar; and a host of nieces,
18nephews, cousins, and friends; therefore, be it
 
19    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
20HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
21we mourn the passing of Tancene B. "Tan" Craig Alexander and
22extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all
23who knew and loved her; and be it further

2presented to the family of Tan Alexander as an expression of
3our deepest sympathy.
