2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
3 | | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of James |
4 | | Edward Wilson, who passed away on April 26, 2022; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, James Wilson was born to Reveal and Anna Mae |
6 | | Wilson in Galesburg on November 9, 1936; he attended Galesburg |
7 | | High School, where he excelled in sports and was a member of |
8 | | the Silver Streaks basketball team; he graduated from Western |
9 | | Illinois University; he served as a jet engine mechanic in the |
10 | | U.S. Air Force; and
|
11 | | WHEREAS, James Wilson had a fruitful career at Fermi |
12 | | National Laboratory, where he met the love of his life, |
13 | | Shirley Payne; together, they shared love, laughter, and |
14 | | leaning into their faith and each other for over 35 years; and
|
15 | | WHEREAS, James Wilson was a jack of all trades after |
16 | | retirement, serving as a car salesman, a school bus driver, |
17 | | and a pillar of motivational perpetuation at the funeral home, |
18 | | as well as a devoted deacon at Logan Street Missionary Baptist |
19 | | Church (MBC); he was also a past master at W.L. Darrow Masonic |
20 | | Lodge #10 in Galesburg; and

21 | | WHEREAS, James Wilson was affectionately known as "Red", |
