2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
3 | | Representatives wish to congratulate Lori Casey, Ed.D. on the |
4 | | occasion of her retirement as superintendent of Woodland |
5 | | School District #50; and
|
6 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Casey received her Bachelor of Arts in |
7 | | Elementary Education and Special Education from Loras College |
8 | | in Dubuque, Iowa in 1988; she obtained her Master of Arts in |
9 | | Administration and Supervision from National Louis University |
10 | | in Evanston in 1992; she earned her Ed.D. in Educational |
11 | | Leadership from Concordia University in 2018; and
|
12 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Casey began her career in education at the |
13 | | Special Education District of Lake County; after working in |
14 | | the special education district, she worked with children who |
15 | | had learning disabilities and social emotional disorders at |
16 | | Northwood Junior High in Highland Park; she then joined |
17 | | Hawthorn Primary School District #73 and then subsequently |
18 | | Hawthorn Junior High School District #73; and
|
19 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Casey joined Woodland School District #50 as |
20 | | special education supervisor for Woodland Middle School in |
21 | | 1998; she then became assistant principal of Woodland |
22 | | Elementary East in 2000, principal of Woodland Primary School |

1 | | in 2005, and associate superintendent in 2010; she became |
2 | | superintendent in 2020; and
|
3 | | WHEREAS, During her tenure, Dr. Casey oversaw and |
4 | | evaluated the district and staff; she served as a member of the |
5 | | School Board Contract Negotiating Team for the most four |
6 | | recent contracts and previously served as the lead |
7 | | administrative negotiator; she was an active participant in |
8 | | the Staff Development Program and served on the Assessment |
9 | | Committee, the Reconfiguration Committee, the Building Report |
10 | | Card Committee, the Multicultural Committee, the Response to |
11 | | Intervention (RtI) Committee, the Liaison Committee, and the |
12 | | Board Policy Committee; she additionally led the district |
13 | | through the ever changing COVID-19 pandemic, negotiating the |
14 | | extended contracts of teachers and support staff; and
|
15 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Casey has served as a presenter or panelist |
16 | | at numerous local and state conferences, including the 2019 |
17 | | Joint Annual Conference for IASB, IASA, IASBO, the 2020 |
18 | | Champions Before/After School National Manager Conference, the |
19 | | 2021 Illinois Joint Annual Conference, and the 2021 Illinois |
20 | | Association of School Superintendents' Webinars with Women; |
21 | | and
|
22 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Casey belongs to the Illinois Principals |
23 | | Association, the Illinois Association of School |

1 | | Administrators, and the American Association of School |
2 | | Administrators; she also serves as a board member for the |
3 | | Exchange Club of Gurnee and Warren Township Healthy |
4 | | Communities/Healthy Youth; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Casey has received a number of accolades |
6 | | during her career; she was named Special Education District of |
7 | | Lake County's Outstanding Educator of the Year in 1991 and |
8 | | Wal-Mart Teacher of the Year in 1998; she also received the |
9 | | Woodland Parent Teacher Association's Award for Outstanding |
10 | | Work in the Areas of Children's and Environmental Health in |
11 | | 2012, a commendation for her work in relation to school safety |
12 | | by the Gurnee Police Department in 2013, the National School |
13 | | Public Relations Association's Golden Achievement Award in |
14 | | 2014, and the Thought Exchange Bold Leadership Award in 2021; |
15 | | and
|
16 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Casey has served Woodland School District #50 |
17 | | with dedication for 24 years; therefore, be it
|
18 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE |
19 | | HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
20 | | we congratulate Lori Casey, Ed.D. on her retirement from |
21 | | Woodland School District #50 and wish her the best in her |
22 | | future endeavors; and be it further
