| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives wish to congratulate the Teutopolis Junior |
| 4 | | High School girls 8th grade basketball team, the Wooden Shoes, |
| 5 | | on winning the 2021-22 IESA Class 8-2A State Championship; and
|
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Teutopolis won 30 games and was undefeated, the |
| 7 | | only IESA junior high girls team to do so since the keeping of |
| 8 | | official records began in 1984; and
|
| 9 | | WHEREAS, This same group of players placed 4th in the |
| 10 | | Class 7-AAA tournament as 6th graders; and
|
| 11 | | WHEREAS, The combined record of the Teutopolis Junior High |
| 12 | | School 8th grade girls basketball team over the last three |
| 13 | | years is 63 and 11; and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Teutopolis won the South Central Jr. High |
| 15 | | Conference title with a conference record of 5 wins and 0 |
| 16 | | losses, defeating Albion Grade School 31 to 17 in the regional |
| 17 | | championship, Brownstown Jr. High School 36 to 14 in the |
| 18 | | sectional championship, Mt. Pulaski Jr. High School 31 to 30 |
| 19 | | in the state quarter finals, and Unity Middle School (Mendon) |
| 20 | | 27 to 23 in the state semi-finals; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Teutopolis defeated Nauvoo-Colusa Junior High |
| 2 | | School 34 to 24
in the championship game; and

| 3 | | WHEREAS, Teutopolis boasted two All-State participants, |
| 4 | | Anna Probst and Malea Helmink; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, The Teutopolis coaches are Head Coach
Jordan Pals |
| 6 | | and Assistant Coach Eric Roley; and
|
| 7 | | WHEREAS, The Teutopolis team is managed by Madison Miller |
| 8 | | and Carly Kingery; and
|
| 9 | | WHEREAS, The Teutopolis players are Cecilia Apke, Mallory |
| 10 | | Bloemer, Halle
Bushue, Malea Helmink, Katie Horn, Olivia |
| 11 | | Kemme, Sophia Martin, Eva Mette,
Kelsey Niemerg, Anna Probst, |
| 12 | | Allie Ruholl, and Alyssa Tipton; and

| 13 | | WHEREAS, Since 1985, the Teutopolis Junior High School |
| 14 | | girls basketball program, 7th and 8th
grades, has secured |
| 15 | | eight state championships and 17 trophies, which requires |
| 16 | | placing 1st to 4th; the last state title for the 8th graders |
| 17 | | was in 2017; and
|
| 18 | | WHEREAS, This year's 7th grade girls team placed 3rd in |
| 19 | | the state; therefore, be it

| 1 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE |
| 2 | | HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 3 | | we congratulate the Teutopolis Junior High School girls 8th |
| 4 | | grade basketball team, the Wooden Shoes, on winning the |
| 5 | | 2021-22 IESA Class 8-2A State Championship; and be it further
|
| 6 | | RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be |
| 7 | | presented to all team members and coaches and to Teutopolis |
| 8 | | Junior High School Principal Pat Drees as a symbol of our |
| 9 | | respect and esteem.
