2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives wish to recognize Vincent E. Rangel for his | ||||||
4 | dedication and steadfast commitment to the residents of | ||||||
5 | Illinois and its veteran community; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Vincent Rangel is a decorated military veteran of | ||||||
7 | the U.S. Army who served honorably in the Vietnam War; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, Vincent Rangel earned numerous awards and | ||||||
9 | decorations for his service, including the Bronze Star Medal, | ||||||
10 | the Purple Heart Medal, the Air Medal, the Army Commendation | ||||||
11 | Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service | ||||||
12 | Medal, the Combat Infantry Badge, the Ranger Tab, and the | ||||||
13 | Parachutist Badge; and
| ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, Since his honorable discharge from military | ||||||
15 | service, Vincent Rangel has continued to serve his fellow | ||||||
16 | veterans through a wide variety of roles, organizational | ||||||
17 | memberships, and community activities, including serving as a | ||||||
18 | leading advocate for enhanced behavioral health services for | ||||||
19 | veterans, volunteering as a guest lecturer at various | ||||||
20 | universities, colleges, and secondary schools, representing | ||||||
21 | veterans and providing students with an intimate history of | ||||||
22 | the Vietnam War, and actively dedicating his time and energy |

1 | to numerous veteran organizations and activities in Illinois; | ||||||
2 | and
| ||||||
3 | WHEREAS, Vincent Rangel has exhibited an exemplary | ||||||
4 | commitment to his local community through various civic and | ||||||
5 | volunteer activities, including serving as past president of | ||||||
6 | the Mexican American Chamber of Commerce of Illinois, board | ||||||
7 | member of the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, | ||||||
8 | chairman emeritus of St. Ignatius College Prep, where he helps | ||||||
9 | raise over $250,000 annually towards student financial aid, | ||||||
10 | and president of the Mexican Civic Society of Illinois, among | ||||||
11 | numerous other volunteer leadership positions; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Vincent Rangel resides in Des Plaines, where he | ||||||
13 | continues to serve the residents of his community and State; | ||||||
14 | therefore, be it
| ||||||
15 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
16 | HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
17 | we recognize Vincent E. Rangel for his continued dedication | ||||||
18 | and steadfast commitment to the residents of Illinois and its | ||||||
19 | veteran community; and be it further

20 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
21 | presented to Vincent Rangel as a symbol of our respect and | ||||||
22 | esteem.
